My coffee machine died yesterday, or at least the heating element did. It's now sitting in my utility closet along with the other coffee machine that died, where I keep my e-waste until I can be bothered to figure out how to recycle it. I decided to try a pour over coffee maker instead, so I've been drinking that this morning. It's good, but I'm not having revelatory experience.
If my electric kettle dies, I'm going to squint nervously at the universe and wonder if it's trying to get me off caffeine.
Rush Limbaugh has died. Wish I could say I didn't let out a little whoop.

No, if your electric kettle dies, that's when you fistfight God to keep that tasty tasty caffeine.
This is why I have three kettles (2 electric, one stovetop) and a stovetop Moka pot juuuuuust in case. You will pry my morning coffee out of my cold dead overcaffeinated hands.
(And an espresso machine and 3 French presses and 4 pourover carafes. I have BACKUP COFFEE PLANS is what I'm saying)
The universe had better not, shrift! Although you could always transition to cold brew at that point. Easy and tasty.
I am heaving a sigh of relief, Dana, I admit it. What a terrible human being he has been for an awfully long time.
I have approximately 1 billion devices of various kinds for making coffee lying around and also try to have instant coffee available for emergencies and I haven't actually had a cup in a couple of weeks. I don't know what that's about.
I have my reliable Melitta - both the four-cup and the one-cup versions - plus a stovetop cappuccino/latte maker, which I fear is coming near the end of its useful life. It's served me well and faithfully for quite a number of years and I use it to give myself a treat on weekends. I like a hot, foaming cup of coffee to dunk biscotti in.
On a different subject, I was watching a video about Chernobyl - the wildlife is coming back and seems healthy; most of the people remaining there - who refused to be evacuated - are old women. The Babushkas are sticking it out and seem to be doing all right.

Same here. My sister called to let me know since our brother has tortured us with listening to his bullshit in the car for years. He won't be missed. He did a lot of damage in his life.
Good/bad news at the home front. The crew removed an ancient pony tail palm from my front lawn. I did threaten to chain myself to the tree. It was growing into the foundation so really had to go. The only good part is that my view from my usual spot in the living room now has an expanded lake view, and that is nice.
Took a quick trip to the PBC zoo this morning to give my DIL a family membership for her birthday today. She had told me they were going to the zoo today as my son took off the day from work to spend time with her. She is excited about the membership as she went to every zoo in Florida when she was a kid on their family membership. It is a really good deal. Also, posted a cutie patootie picture of Jonathan in his zoo day sandals, not that he even rolls over much less walks yet. He'll figure out how to kick them off soon if he is any grandchild of mine.
