I'm sorry, Hil. Being at a distance makes it so much harder.

Hang-in-there-ma to you and your aunt, Hil.
Anyone who follows space exploration has to put up with some really silly acronyms. Jupiter ICy moons Explorer becomes JUICE and that's one of the milder ones.
I'm sorry, Hil. I hope she pulls through.
I'm sorry Hil, I hope things take a turn.
Our issue isn't so much overly creative acronyms as it is using the same acronyms for different things. Is PM a property manager or a project manager or preventive maintenance? Nobody knows! Or reusing acronyms that already stand for something, like CPA for a role that is not accounting but is close enough that there could legit be confusion on the point. Helpful!
I'm so sorry Hil.
On the acronyms, back when I started work at Imagineering right after grad school one of the first documents handed to me was a rather large (I want to say at least 20 or 30 pages) booklet that was just page after page of the acronyms and abbreviations that were used. It's in Disneyland, it's DLP (DisneyLand Park), it's not California Adventure, it's DCL, etc. etc. Every single land, ride, attraction, division, etc had some sort of abbreviation like this. So you'd get sentences in emails that read like, "I'm going to be at DLP earlier today, then over to DCL, so I won't be able to answer the questions about TDS and TDL until I get back to my office at WDI."
To which the appropriate response might be TL;DR?
Timelies all!
I'm sorry, Hil.
The VA just called and my dad can get vaccinated tomorrow!
Yay, Brenda!
Congrats, Brenda!
The government also runs on acronyms, even if most of them weren’t words. I specialized in laws such as EFTA, TISA, EFAA, and SCRA. I was less expert in, but at least familiar with, FCRA, TILA, UDAP, and RESPA. Then there was legislation like FIRREA, FDICIA, GLBA, DFA, and I kid you not, EGRPRA.
Sometimes things could be confusing. Depending on the context, FTCA could mean Federal Trade Commission Act or Federal Tort Claims Act.
