The government also runs on acronyms, even if most of them weren’t words. I specialized in laws such as EFTA, TISA, EFAA, and SCRA. I was less expert in, but at least familiar with, FCRA, TILA, UDAP, and RESPA. Then there was legislation like FIRREA, FDICIA, GLBA, DFA, and I kid you not, EGRPRA.
Sometimes things could be confusing. Depending on the context, FTCA could mean Federal Trade Commission Act or Federal Tort Claims Act.
My aunt is doing somewhat better. She was able to talk to her son on the phone for about ten minutes -- before, she wasn't breathing well enough to do that.
