Not javachik

Just catching up to, err, Oct. 2023.

If L0is T. is around: Did you post on FB that you've emailed me a bunch of times? Cuz, the last email I have from you is from 2008. So. I'm thinking maybe a hack, or an email misspelling? My two addresses are the one in my addy here, and he one that is my name @ my full name.

Yes! I did. Now to remember what that was about. Based on Stuff happening in general, it seems simultaneously just a little while ago and about 3 years ago.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

There are lots and lots of boxes in our house. I'm not sure if all the stuff from storage is back here, but there is a good amount.

Going to pick up Luna from the boarding place tomorrow. Don't know if she'll remember me, and I'm sure the house smells different, so she may be hiding for a while.

Health~ma to DHs and dads.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

The tenant did respond to the fire department knocking.
Issue was smoke from the stove (and/or oven). So not an emergency, just an alarm. Thank goodness.

Same thing happened to me at my old apartment, sort of. Around 11Pm, heard a beeping figured out it was the smoke alarm next door. Went out into the hallway, other neighbor had also come out to investigate the noise. We agreed that we smelled smoke, so knocked on the door. I called 911, fire department came, concurred with the smoke smell. They banged on the door with a fire ax, no answer. Eventually broke the door open. Could see smoke and hear the beeping. They were in the apartment before the tenant woke up and came out of the bedroom. She'd falled asleep with food on the stove.

Our wings are not tired.

Many years ago I lived in an apartment complex on the first floor and woke to the sounds of firemen talking outside my window that they were going to have to break in. Someone in the building had reported smelling gas and they had knocked on all the doors. I had managed to sleep through that. Neighbors had apparently told them I was in there. When I heard them I got up and let them in. They never found any issue, but I told them I was cool with them having to break in if they thought I was in trouble. (and apologized for sleeping with earplugs)

Our wings are not tired.

In me news, I went to my first PT session yesterday, which was good, and felt better afterward. Then this afternoon I went downstairs to our gym and did all my homework, plus some extra on the arms.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Yay for good PT, Laura. Also, yay for getting back into your house, Sheryl.

Good thoughts for Shrift and Teppy and their dads.

They are...supposedly...releasing DH from the hospital today. He's on a four-week IV ABX before they can do the surgery they need to do, so we'll be doing stop-and-go infusions daily at the hospital. But he'll be out of durance vile while we wait for the surgery date. Thanks so much for all the ~ma. I now release it to those who need it more.

We miss you too, Plei.

He's home. He's a little dazed, wandering around touching things. "I miss the hospital noises." He's napping. It's beyond wonderful to have him home, see him better, and know there's an endpoint to this, and a positive resolution Thanks everybody for the good thoughts. Most appreciated. And now I nap, too.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I’m glad he’s home, Beverly.

I have a mammogram tomorrow morning. They generally aren’t painful for me. But going in, I always wonder if this is the one that will change my life—in a bad way. Still, better to find things than not, if things are to be found.
