Congrats, amych! Are you planning to move, or is that just sort of in your back pocket in case TFG actually wins in '24?

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
For now it's 99% a back pocket option (and a good bit of if-I-win-the-lottery-I-don't-actually-play dreaming), but if/when the time came that we decided to move, it opens up, well, all of Europe. And it somehow feels right to close that loop.
Wow, amych! ETA: that seems like a big thing in several ways!
So very cool, amych!
That's very exciting, amych!
JZ and I had been looking at the possibility of a Greek passport, which you can get if you invest in enough property over there. Initially it was really low! (something like $50K) but now it's up to more like $200K. Still, we could have an Air BnB type property in Athens that JZ's relatives over there could run for a cut and we'd still have the EU passport. Still tempting.
Dangit, I need to order a turkey today! Running out of time. I feel completely ambushed by Thanksgiving this year.
I am tiiiiiiiired. In addition to the usual chaos of work, it is annual review discussion time, and annual budget planning time (which involves me reminding higher-ups that no, really, technical writing and localization aren't free). Any day where I have under 6hrs of meetings is a good one.
Timelies all!
Went to the dentist and had several cavities filled. Afterwards, I got myself a Frappuccino, forgetting the logistics of trying to drink through a straw when one’s mouth is numb. Silly me…
Checked one onerous task off my list. Did my skin check and am happy to report that all is clear and any new things are just me getting old. Which doesn't bother me so much as skin cancer would.
Next on the list is getting my foot looked at. The dog stepped on it, for the millionth time, but it was right on the joint where I had the bunion surgery a decade ago. It has hurt for a few days and I think needs an X-ray. Anyway, I called the original surgeon person and will see if her office can take a look. Then I need to do something about my hip lockups that doesn't involve needles, or knives, or drugs. These old bones. Sheesh.
Brendon's dad was Canadian and he has said for decades he needs to do something, but hasn't yet.
Congrats, amych!
I do need to make use of my EU citizenship, open a bank account there and transfer some money overseas. I thought to do so before the war because the politics here were bad for the economy, and now with the war I'd like to keep at least some of the value of the money I've earned.
I'm back from another Shiva. I'm planning to go to the funeral of the peace activist that was killed on Oct. 7th, Vivian Silver (they only managed to identify her yesterday. Yes, over 5 weeks and they still can't identify all of the dead from that day). And the disinformation and misinformation about the war in general and her death in particular are sickening. I seriously do not understand in which world people feel like there should be suffering competitions for earn some empathy. Worse, if the details aren't bad enough to their liking and may portray the other side as anything other than pure evil they'll just make up stories about it. This is a sickening popularity contest, from both sides. I just don't get it.
I am very jealous of EU citizenship! Right now I mostly want to run screaming into the woods solely about work after being gone for three days, never mind thinking of the state of politics and the world. Sigh.
Shir and Nilly love that you keep checking in. Any and all updates are welcome and loved.
