Happy Birthday, Hill, and belated Birthday, Jess!
Nilly and Shir, it's good to see your pixels. Nilly, I think reminding people that hard is hard, no matter what's happening elsewhere, is a good thing.
need to tap into a little bit of Dad energy
After my Dad died I kept sending Christmas cards to his surviving old buddies. Partly because he'd have wanted them remembered, and partly because they'd send me cards with little notes that were absolutely brimming with Dad energy. And I needed that. Still do, but people born around 1926 are a little thin on the ground these days. Oh well. It's getting around the time when I put on my
Escanaba in the Moonlight
dvd. It's not so much the Dad energy (although there's a fair bit of that) as it is the very distinctive Upper Peninsula of Michigan accents throughout the movie, which was Dad's accent at home.
ETA: I'm sorry for your loss, Matt.
I am sorry for your loss, Matt. It's always sudden.
Matt, my condolences. {{}}
In separate post: happy birthday, Hil! And happy anniversary, sj!
(I have nothing to add other than that I started nickname the cat with local terror organizations' branches names).
The cat knows what it did.
Happiness and condolences as appropriate all.
Shir, that's funny. Sometimes we call my cat "Captain Obvious" because when I need help at night or early in the morning, she waits till *after* Mom starts helping to meow in our faces or get underfoot instead of, say, going for help beforehand, Lassie-style,which at times, might be huge.
{{{Matt}}} It's always sudden
I'm sorry, Matt.
JAR was in the TV adaptation of that, wasn't he?
I forgot there was one, but yes!
I’m so sorry for your loss, Matt.
Thanks everyone. I know it's silly, but with two cancer deaths one after another and Mom's recurrence all happening close together it feels more like a vendetta than just statistics.
