Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I've had reactions to the Covid shots and boosters; annoying, put me out of commission for a day afterward, but better than the actual virus. The ones that really bothered me were the pneumonia shots - those left me feeling like I had the flu for a couple of weeks each; and they were from different companies, so it wasn't just the one.

In happier news, I was in the drugstore the other day and, in with the gazillions of bags of Halloween candy, they had two different types of Halloween stickers - one glow in the dark, the other scratch and sniff. People who have kids coming to your door, be advised - they might be good for kids who can't have candy.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I went in for fasting bloodwork this morning, came back home to eat breakfast and apply coffee, and then went out again for my Covid booster. The pharmacist recommended hydration, so I'm having some Liquid I.V. Seemed like a reasonable idea since jet lag has also wrecked me this week.

I have a haircut appointment this evening, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up a giant burrito on the way home as a reward for all this adulting. (Plus we kept seeing places advertise French tacos which included pictures of things that most definitely were not tacos, and my response was, "It's a trap!")

Our wings are not tired.

They didn't have the Covid vaccine last time I checked so I'll check again in a couple weeks. If not then I'll wait until I get home.

Tom, is there flooding around you? It looks awful.

eta: I didn't have anything but a sore arm with my various vaccines. And that wasn't bad. Grateful since I know many do suffer.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I reacted to the first two-dose vaccine, but I haven't reacted to the boosters. Got mine on the 18th, which gave it a week to start kicking in before I came to NY.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Tim got his Monday as well, which gives him a week before he goes back to work. (Did I mention that? He's going back to work on Monday. THIS Monday. But only half-days for a while. He's doing extremely well and is very restless. Plus, he *has* to be sick of me by now, because it's been a little under 2 months of being home.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I hope he has an easy transition to being back at work! Half days is good.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Yay for Tim!

I'm now feeling very fatigued and vaguely feverish, so clearly I celebrated my lack of side effects to soon.

All the cool kids are feeling crappy from the Covid booster. Welcome to the club!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Joining those doing things that interest them, I signed up for a presentation from my local art museum on the Etruscans. They’re less well known than the classical Romans, but what I’ve heard sounds neat.

The Etruscans are fascinating. Jealous.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Around here, a lot of people are getting SPIKEVAX appointments, but the pharmacy doesn't actually have it when the appointment comes. So wish me luck tomorrow morning. Otherwise, I'll just get the flu shot, which is better than nothing.

Work remains a cluster. Boss is now on admin leave and there is going to be an outside investigation into allegations of a hostile workplace and unethical practices. Giant poop show.

Oh dang, msbelle. I hope it's satisfying that at least everyone knows your boss is a shitshow.

I also hope the memorial is good (or whatever...satisfying? helpful? what you all need it to be.)
