JZ, I so admire your writing, your style, your love for your family and friends, your spunk, etc., etc., etc. I've enjoyed watching your FB smackdowns so much, and so admired you for stepping up to the trolls in a way that I've never been brave enough to do, and with such intelligence, eloquence, and class. Thank you for supporting me through my illness. I wish I could do more for you. Thank you for being such an amazing presence (even having only met you in person once, briefly, at SF2F so many years ago) in my life. <3

P.S. I've had a pretty ... complicated relationship with G*d the last few years, but I've appreciated the friends that have been praying for me through all of this. I asked them to pray for you, too.

Well, I made it to Auckland despite somehow being given someone else’s boarding pass and none of us noticing until I was at the gate! Luckily she was going the same place, and my bag made it. Hope hers did too, since apparently the check in person “canceled” one of her bags when I said I only had one, not two!

Meanwhile my travel companion is flying back to the US, but there is a security incident on another flight and all the runways are closed and they have to deplane. Yikes! Crossing fingers for her she still makes her connection!

I'm not sure if I mentioned on there that my current treatment for the radiation damage to my bladder is hyperbaric chamber treatments.

Not fun, but I have known people who had good results.

Today is our 15th wedding anniversary. Every year on this date, it makes me sadmad. That we had to wait 13 years into our relationship to legally get married. That it was merely a formality with no fanfare or celebration. Not that either of us wanted some big wedding, but it sucks to watch every friend and family member get showered with well-wishes and gifts on their engagement/wedding when we got...very little. That our rights still feel very much on the line in the precarious state our nation (shit, the world) is currently in. In short, yay?

Epic I hope that the treatment helps your bladder.

And i too have very complicated feelings about God and religion but hearing the sermon yesterday...it just felt really good and I enjoyed it and I started watching another but had to pause it but I want to go back.

A lot of my issues with God and Christianity and I was trying to say something about that and it just gets tangled.

I hope this makes sense-- JZ you are a kind, compassionate, generous and loving person (and so many other things) and I know that you would be that way no matter if you were a Christian or not but I also know that I see your love for God and God's love shine through in you. "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
