First post today was msbelle talking about Disney! My SILs, other friend, and their kids went there Monday. They said it was incredible. With the low occupancy rate there was zero waiting in lines for anything. They were delighted and didn't feel unsafe at all.
That's a good side to the pandemic that I hadn't considered!
ION, my left ankle is stupid and I hate it forever. If I didn't need it to keep myself ambulatory, I would launch it into space.
msbelle, please tell the Haunted Mansion that I miss it and want to come home.
Since last Thursday I have: stared unbelievingly at Slack, created a documentation planning process, had it reviewed by my boss, my feature release manager, and their boss, ran a meeting presenting and explaining it to my feature project managers, created a documentation request tracking spreadsheet for the same PMs, had a 1:1 with the junior writer I’m mentoring, and did not kill a project manager with my brain when they said
“No, we don’t have any design docs about these workflows, they just evolved organically during the UX design meetings.”
I would like a large drink, a slice of cake the size of my head, and no meetings for the rest of the week.
Has any buffista or buffista-adjacent heard of Averna?
My kid is in love with it so I’m doing a deep dive. Seems like a super talented and creative media savvy group of young things.

I'm feeling very upbeat tonight. Possibly because I spent the last half hour listening to songs from Galavant.
Laura! Grandparenthood - congratulations! More details please.
Stay safe everyone.
Congrats on the grandchild, Laura!
Averna looks like something I would have been all over as a teenager. I haven't heard of it before, so I don't know if it's a front for something untoward, though.
::waves at Laura::
flea, happy to be soldiering along with you. This is my last one, and she will, by god, graduate, or I will die trying.
Hi Laura!
Yesterday I somehow wrangled an appointment for my annual physical in barely a month, which is about five to six weeks earlier than I expected. Downside, I really need to hit the treadmill hard between now and mid February to see if I can get my weight down.
Hi, Laura!
Um... I don't think I have anything else. Yup. Nope. That's it.
Laura! Grandparenthood - congratulations! More details please.
Oh, let me tell you about my grandchild! Jonathan Garcia Holt was born 5 weeks early and was a wee 5 lbs 11 oz, 21" long. Considering his parents are both over 6', that was tiny. She pushed 3 times! Those of us who delivered the huge babies were most jealous. Originally they had planned to give her a c-section because of her EDS, but because of his size they were able to do a natural birth without her dislocating hips or anything. They had a time of it keeping him awake to eat the first couple weeks. They had a little bootie that monitored his heartrate and oxygen and they took 3 hour shifts monitoring him. Bless Tesla and their generous maternity and paternity leave policies, and excellent health insurance. Although he wasn't strong enough at first to nurse she pumped more than he could consume. Now he wants to wake up Mom & Dad to eat all the time.
I've still only seen him twice as they are more privately negotiating the parenting thing and aren't allowing anyone else to hold him until his gestational birth due date, which is in a couple days!! So hopefully we will be able to hold him this weekend. I did touch his toes already, because baby toes!
I may spam the Buffista FB page with some pictures. He met his 4 month old cousin last week in the park and I have pictures of them both.
