I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Congrats on the grandchild, Laura!

Averna looks like something I would have been all over as a teenager. I haven't heard of it before, so I don't know if it's a front for something untoward, though.

flea, happy to be soldiering along with you. This is my last one, and she will, by god, graduate, or I will die trying.

"You should never say bad things about the dead, only good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good.” —Bette Davis

Hi Laura!

Yesterday I somehow wrangled an appointment for my annual physical in barely a month, which is about five to six weeks earlier than I expected. Downside, I really need to hit the treadmill hard between now and mid February to see if I can get my weight down.

Hi, Laura!

Um... I don't think I have anything else. Yup. Nope. That's it.

Our wings are not tired.

Laura! Grandparenthood - congratulations! More details please.

Oh, let me tell you about my grandchild! Jonathan Garcia Holt was born 5 weeks early and was a wee 5 lbs 11 oz, 21" long. Considering his parents are both over 6', that was tiny. She pushed 3 times! Those of us who delivered the huge babies were most jealous. Originally they had planned to give her a c-section because of her EDS, but because of his size they were able to do a natural birth without her dislocating hips or anything. They had a time of it keeping him awake to eat the first couple weeks. They had a little bootie that monitored his heartrate and oxygen and they took 3 hour shifts monitoring him. Bless Tesla and their generous maternity and paternity leave policies, and excellent health insurance. Although he wasn't strong enough at first to nurse she pumped more than he could consume. Now he wants to wake up Mom & Dad to eat all the time.

I've still only seen him twice as they are more privately negotiating the parenting thing and aren't allowing anyone else to hold him until his gestational birth due date, which is in a couple days!! So hopefully we will be able to hold him this weekend. I did touch his toes already, because baby toes!

I may spam the Buffista FB page with some pictures. He met his 4 month old cousin last week in the park and I have pictures of them both.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

Wee tiny babe! My brother was 5 lbs 15 oz, and grew into a beast of 6'2", so it's nice to know that they can catch up.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Well, this is just silly. My department used to maintain sales forecasts for all our accounts - that's done at an aggregate level now so that has supposedly lessened my workload by removing that task. I have stuff I could say about that, but that is not my current purpose. Another department that I work closely with now has to maintain their sales forecasts and didn't before, so I have my coworker in that department leaning on my expertise for how to do the thing that is not my responsibility any more VERY HEAVILY.

I don't mind that she asks, and I do remember how to do it, but it's a ridiculous situation. Streamlined my ass.

Hahahaha no one told that department anything at all. Oops. Communication is a core value. Sigh.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

We have a "Strategic Communications" team that refuses to share information with the rest of the staff. This morning my boss asked me to include some information about a blog post that they'd sent out ... except they didn't share with staff, so I had to go into our mass email system, find the message and send it to myself, since the preview wouldn't let me get the information or the URL to link to.
