I’m standing in a long line for fancy croissants in downtown Melbourne but it wasn’t until I was already in line and waiting that I realized this location (a couple blocks from our hotel) doesn’t have their coolest flavors!!! Boooooo. I wanted the chocolate orange croissant!

Always Anti-fascist!

wow, one of my favorite flavor combinations, meara. Good news about the returning appetites, Hec. Can't believe someone from our Disabilities team meeting is spending time on the weekend worrying about the agenda for next time already. If we were friends in addition to being comrades, I might tell her to get laid, sniff a flower, paint her toenails, but we kind of don't get each other anyway. I want momentum, too, but I don't want to be a machine. Even for social justice... Because I am even more burned out on Zoom meetings than usual after spending yesterday on what seems like a worthy-but-doomed attempt to solve the caregiving crisis in our state. The reason why it seems doomed is because the best solution would be to offer better pay and benefits for people that do caregiving. That's it. But the suits don't want to hear that so we talk about pilot projects, and partnerships with schools and colleges. Of all the things I wanted to be when I grew up, not one of them was a "stakeholder"

Always Anti-fascist!

Sometimes my work is so collective, I feel like I am losing touch with myself and might not even have a reflection anymore(Mixed feelings about that, since I usually don't like what I see, either)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Dinner Report: Mission Abort!

She wanted fancy ravioli. I made her fancy ravioli as requested.

She took one bite and said, "Get it away from me!"

Oh well. It's a process. 5 meals out of 6 is pretty good.

We start again tomorrow. It's hard to get the calories in.

Welp, the rejected dinner last night is related to her having urinary retention issues again with her kidney.

Distended belly and pain. Might need a catheter.

Taking her to the ER.

Thrive to spite them

5 meals out of 6 sounds really good.

And baby holding sounds awesome. Lately I've been wanting to hold a baby. Not have one or anything just wishing I knew someone with baby I could cuddle a bit. I might be reading too much accidental baby acquisition fic.

We've been watching Harley Quinn which is awesome and so I can totally picture Bane explaining things to Tim. I think Bane is one of my favorite characters on the show.

Mom and my uncle are in FL. They've seen my aunt and she is not doing well but she knew them and doesn't seem to be in pain. Yesterday Mom saw my aunt's grandson and his half siblings snd she said she had a really good day. Unfortunately the place where my aunt is has 6 cases of covid so Mom and my uncle may not get to see my aunt again. She said the grandson is doing really well and seems a lot happier than he has been.

And volunteering with Crafty Friend has been a little tense ..she is very Type A perfection and I'm obviously not and it has led to frustrations on both our parts. I've been doing other stuff not directly with her and that helps. Past of the frustration on my part is seeing how much work she makes for herself. So I end up being a little pushy about just letting some things get done because she will ask me to help her with something and then im left standing around because she ends up doing all the work anyway. So l will get pushy or want to find something else to do because standing around waiting to be handed one or 2 things at a time to put out is tedious and I feel like i could be doing more. Which I'm trying to stop because she is in charge of the papercraft section and I need to figure out a way to communicate things better or just help in other areas.

Oh no David. Sending lots of healing thoughts to JZ.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Already had an ultrasound. We have a room! Unlike last December’s ordeal in the hallway.

They are going to use a catheter.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Oh, no Hec. I hope JZ gets some relief and gets to go home soon.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I hope the catheter takes care of the retention quickly and she can get back home where she belongs.

Tim just texted me a picture of his back with the incision, and it looks so good, in terms of there being virtually no redness or swelling. I counted, and he has 40 staples.
