Timelies all!
Another weekend with Mr. S. We're having his birthday party tomorrow at SkyZone, which is all about trampolines.

I hope the party goes well. ltc’s kid’s party is tomorrow as well. At her karate studio.
Two for two on meals today!
Matilda cheerleading all the way, "Good job, Mommy!"
That is good news!
I held my great-nephew this morning!
That's about all I got accomplished today. Currently watching the musical episode of SNW.
Breakfast Triumph this morning! Jacqueline ate both halves of an English muffin slathered in Devon Cream and Lemon Curd, a cup of tea and a glass of milk.
That's the biggest breakfast she's had in weeks.
Breakfast victory! That sounds like an excellent English muffin.

I buttered it too, so that's an extra layer of delicious calories.
Lemon curd on Devon Cream is just SO good.
After a lot of surgeries (most surgeries?), it's not the day after that sucks terribly, but Day 2 after surgery. And poor Tim is on Day 2 after his second surgery in 4 days. So he feels fucking terrible. Hit-by-a-truck terrible. He's really discouraged and thinks he's going to have to go to inpatient rehab before he can come home. And I'm trying VERY hard to not repeatedly tell him that he's just experiencing the utter shit of Day 2, and he's going to turn a corner tomorrow. He was in more or less good health before surgery, his legs are strong from working a physical job and riding the exercise bike in the troll hole, and he's comparatively young. He's going to be fine, and my best guess is he'll be home Tuesday, but maybe Monday. This is all normal for a 2-part back reconstruction surgery, but while he's stuck in the immediate post-surgery period, it fucking sucks. The truth is that it's just going to take some time for recovery, but when you feel like the Hulk stomped all over your back, you really don't want to hear "recovery is just going to take some time!"
So I'm trying to be supportive without telling him stuff that's true but not helpful because it isn't immediately actionable.
In the meantime, I am facing the harsh reality that *I* am now responsible for cleaning the litter box. Ugh.
you really don't want to hear "recovery is just going to take some time!"
It sucks, but really you just have to say, "Honey, remember how unrealistic it was in the movie when Bane broke Batman's back and then he climbed out of that hole without medical care a week later?"
(I know it wasn't a week, but really I could not suspend my disbelief.)
"Bane broke your back. But in a therapeutic way so it'll be better! Imagine the Bane on Harley Quinn explaining this to you. The main thing is you're not crawling out of the prison hole until it stops straining credulity. It's going to be a few days."
"Honey, remember how unrealistic it was in the movie when Bane broke Batman's back and then he climbed out of that hole without medical care a week later?"
...this actually might work!
Imagine the Bane on Harley Quinn explaining this to you.
PERFECT!
