Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Oh, no, Tep, that's awful. So sorry.
My niece is due on Monday, so every time my phone beeps I leap for it. (Although in reality my phone goes "mana-mana" from the Muppets.)
Just got back from 4 days at Camp, which was very nice although kind of hot. I might possibly have had too many ribs at last night's bbq. Now I need to do stuff around the house and cook food for my niece & her DH so they will be set for when the baby comes, but I think I will try that tomorrow.
Right now the Boss is laying on my feet because the boarding kennel was just a bit traumatizing for her. She could not wait to leave the building when I went to pick her up. I will take her for a long walk in a little while, when it cools off a bit.
Aww poor puppy. I am going to miss mine so so much while I’m gone, even though I know he’ll be having a good time at home with my bff who he loves, and her dog, who he also loves.
Felt like crap all day today and then went to a friend’s for dinner and got to cuddle her extremely fat three month old baby, which was fun, and see other folks. And once I was there felt more awake and better than I had all day. Which yay, but also wtf. The only thing I accomplished was laundry. I think I need one more target trip before I go.
meara I think you’re just illuminating what an extrovert you are - getting your happy energy from being around friends makes perfect sense! So glad Rory has good human and canine friends to hang with in your absence.
Suela, did you take the Boss to Shasta’s place? She also sometimes does in-home sitting for special friends - let me know if you want me to connect you.
Laura, I caught up on like 3 months of Natter. Thank you for remembering my birthday! It was a low-key day that was fine, and I knew I was ending the month with a fantastic vacation with Pix and ND, so that was sweet. My birthday sadly coincided with meara’s mom passing. These awful milestones in the circle of life are sobering.
In contrast to meara, if I ever needed proof I'm an introvert last night was it. I went to my aunt's 83rd birthday party, which was a HUGE event at a lodge venue with something like a hundred attendees, a prom-style picture background, catered food, and a DJ. (He said when he was approached about working an octogenarian's birthday, he had to say yes and see it. Bet he was surprised when the birthday girl stayed on the dance floor the whole time he was playing!) It was fun to see relatives and join the celebration, but it wore me out and I crashed for 12 hours once I got home.
Lol yes definitely an extrovert, though I think some of the energy was from napping several times yesterday! It occurred to me later that I probably should’ve turned the a/c on and maybe being cooler would’ve been more peppy too.
Made one more target trip, realized I got the wrong size thing, will make one more. But may wait until tomorrow night so I pack first and see if anything else I come up with needing!
Nanita welcome back to Natter!
Tep, that’s absolutely horrible. I’m so sorry.
Timelies all!
The weekend with Mr. S was...mixed. During the day he was fine(Gary even managed to get to do errands for about an hour today, and things went fine with Mr. S and me), but the evenings/nights were a problem. Friday night he just wouldn't start the bedtime routine, then started complaining his back hurt. Gary took him to PM Pediatrics...where he had a major meltdown and 911 was called to take him to the ER. Last night he started getting unfocused at dinner, then was getting into the red zone with his behavior when we were trying to get in the car and go home. I was getting frustrated to the point that Gary suggested I take a walk. I ended up walking most of the way home.(The guys caught up with me about a mile from our house.) Things were a bit better after that, though he didn't go to sleep until 10.
And to top things off, one of our smoke detectors went off at 3 am, and Gary couldn't shut it down.(He ended up taking it down and putting it in his office where we couldn't hear it.)
Good Monday! I have arrived in Otter Lake. It was a road trip. Poor DH can not extend his legs in my car so he was pretty miserable. Next time we will have to stop every hour rather than every 2 hours so he can stretch some.
I am about to go and check out my house. I stayed at my sister's last night because my bathroom isn't quite ready yet. They gutted the entire place and are just now putting the pieces back together. New fancy appliances and stuff. It will be more up to date than my Florida home!
Tired.
Teppy, that's heartbreaking. I lost a nephew the same way; Ken was devastated, as he and his cousin had been quite close. Wishing all of your strength and grace.
Sheryl, all admiration to you as you wrestle on behalf of your son.
Laura, may the house be all you could want!
