Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I am in DC in one of the spots (not Capitol Hill) where the groups were gathering. I was told to go home around noon on Tuesday and stay home Wednesday and Thursday. I've been checking outside my office and there are quite a lot of police cars out there. No way I'd go anywhere near the Capitol.
With the people who invaded the Capitol being averse to wearing masks, I understand they're being reported ... several have lost their jobs. Five people died - one was the woman who was shot, one was the Capitol police officer who was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher and later went back to his office and another was a man who posed waving a couple of long guns in front of his Christmas tree ... and is being eulogized as a good family man.
I can't help wondering - think anyone's going to go to felony murder charges?
I will honestly be SHOCKED if anyone is charged with more than trespassing or similar. Happy to be wrong, but I don;t think it will happen.
I also hope that enough of the public continues to follow the arrests and charges and pressures prosecution at higher levels.
Oh, yes. Thank you. My mistake, then - I'm sorry. Looks like the account I referred to is an old account of his, had no idea he has another account.
Shir, it's so hard to keep track of people on every platform. I wouldn't have seen the account I found, had I not been in the algorithm's thrall, looking to see who it suggested.
Glad you are ok, Toddson!
I don't really expect murder charges but maybe I will be proved wrong
Go msbelle!
Also glad to hear Gud has been spotted recently on Twitter, that makes me feel better about not seeing him here. Hope he is doing ok.
I have my weekly Friday at 12:30 standing meeting today and I think seeing it on my calendar is more irritating than actually attending it is. It's not like I actually take a lunch most days, but to know I can't is just galling.
Israel and vaccines: on the one hand, of course I'm thrilled with the vaccination rates here, their availability and supply. My mom and sister (medical staff at a hospital) are vaccinated with the 1st shot (my dad is still a denier), most of the over 60 year olds and at risk are vaccinated as well with the 1st shot. It feels like a miracle. On the other hand, so many aspects are being mishandled because vaccination isn't everything in battling Covid (we are now on our third lockdown because the government is in political lockdown and can't activate any other mean, some populations aren't getting the vaccines en masse because politics is terrible - teachers, prisoners, the Occupied Territories, and no business plan or relief to business owners). On top of that, it was published today that we got the vaccines so fast because the government agreed to give Pfizer data about those who get the vaccines. It's important to receive that data, sure, but it looks like it was done mostly as part of Netanyahu's re-election campaign (yeah, we got another round, on March 23rd). His current promise is to get most of the population vaccinated by the end of March. And since the agreement with Pfizer is not public, I am wondering what is in it that got us the almost-too-good-to-be-true scenario. I trust the science and vaccines, it's Netanyahu I'm worried about.
It seems like there should be at least one involuntary manslaughter charge, but my law degree is fromLaw and Order.
I have cat food, but the delivery person woke me up at 7:30 am (I had no idea that selecting “morning” would be that early) by knocking, ringing the doorbell and repeatedly calling. She said she was not allowed to leave it unattended, which is odd, because ever since COVID, they have just been dropping at my door whe. I type in”leave at door”
Still can’t get the cards to work, but Apple Pay from the same card worked?
Sophia, I tried one of my cards at the pharmacy last night and it worked, so maybe it's a specific processing service that's having issues.
On the upside, I think I'm ready for the fall of civilization. I just had soup for lunch that I made yesterday using broth I made from veg scraps, with bread I made on the side. Granted, I'm still relying on the supermarket, but some of my neighbors garden, and I'm pretty sure one still has chickens, so we can make it together.

As a graduate of the same fine institution I'm pretty sure they should threaten all of them with it and see who flips on the rest first.
Unless they assume they can hold out for a presidential pardon ....
