Popping in to wish you some enchanted evenings.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Timelies all!
Turns out they didn't need to do a biopsy on my dad after all. It was some sort of narrowing of the tube that caused the blood in the urine, and they put a catheter in. It'll come out in a couple days and we'll see how things go from there.
I was just talking with my friend K, who was going to go to Bali, but th person that she was going with was getting flaky. And wanted to include their high mainentance SO at the last minute. So she bailed. I was intrigued, but I don't know her well enough to travel to Bali.
Also OMWF starts in 7 minutes on CometTV and I am unreasonably anticipatory.
Wow to Bali!
We don't get to have a summer vacation as such because UW is doing a complete overhaul of its financial systems and switching over to Workday in July. Which means that those of us in UW Finance, especially those who are any kind of power users or trainers, basically can't take more than a couple days off at a time May-September.
I am Not Happy about any part of this situation and can rant at length on how I feel about Workday, but the plus side is we're planning a fall or winter vacation instead. At this point the front runner is Portugal over Thanksgiving week.
Ooh, Portugal! Cool!
I am still deciding when I can take my next big vacation but 30 Days of Trains seems very doable. I should really make my mind up about timing so I can start making plans for visiting people. Mom suggested Sept/Oct but the annular eclipse is in October and that’s a fixed date if ever there was one.
30 days of trains sounds intriguing!! As does the eclipse.
Y’all, I probably need to write in to Ask A Manager, but any tips on how to word accomplishments as a project-manager sort of person to both (a) show I did something but (b) not make it sound like I did all the work—sometimes I directed others to do it and other times worked as part of a team. Some things I can claim—like oh, I looked at this issue or these results and realized we needed to do XYZ and then had the team do it, sure. But a lot of other times when trying to think of examples of things I’ve done I end up saying we we we we.
sometimes I directed others to do it and other times worked as part of a team
Can you distinguish between those in each case? So, "led project A, key member of project team B, etc."?
Hi Todd!! Good to see you 'round these parts.
Turns out they didn't need to do a biopsy on my dad after all.
Good news.
Also OMWF starts in 7 minutes on CometTV and I am unreasonably anticipatory.
It has been quite a while. I hope it was enjoyed.
All this vacation talk makes me long for a trip. Sigh.
Turns out they didn't need to do a biopsy on my dad after all.
Yay!
Due to the scheduling of major projects, my usual Labor Day vacation plans won't happen this year. My manager is good about saying we should definitely take vacation at other times—it's just an issue with the school calendar. I'm a little bummed, but it's a one time thing. Or at least, a one time per decade thing.
I’m bummed there’s no indictment yet.
