"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I am here to report: we had an ordinary day.

JZ's pain medications were effective. She even took a walk in the Panhandle with me.

Jacqueline also enjoyed reading Diana Wynne Jones all day, as she has since the diagnosis.

She noted that unlike when she had COVID, she can focus and read on the pain meds.

Matilda not only put away the dishes, but she cleaned the piggy cage, and did the laundry (including piggy liners).

I fed everybody the lunches and dinners of their choice. My MiL retired to the garden apartment to read this evening, whilst Matilda, JZ and I watched Wednesday (first time for Matilda, second time for us).

Cross-training note: JZ taught me how to pay the mortgage.

Piggy note: they were each very cute and provided all with amusement and comfort.

What is even happening?

Hec, thank you for sharing your ordinary day with us.

JZ, I'm so relieved you got those meds and that they're giving you relief.

WTG, Miss Matilda!

Our wings are not tired.

Sounds quite relaxing and ordinary. Yay, Matilda!

We started the NYE morning with breakfast at the beach, and I even had a mimosa! We don't generally go out, but we are going to my BIL's tonight as he is doing a thing. In a way disappointed because I wanted to see how the fireworks were from my new location. Someone set some off at 5 this morning, but I didn't see them because of the being-in-bed. I expect they will happen all night long. So grateful that Skinner doesn't seem to care about them at all.

Thrive to spite them

YAY for walks and Wednesday and piggies.

I need to clean out a litter box and sweep around it.

YAY Matilda for stepping up with the house work.

M's mom has decided she is buying tv for the living room so she and M are off to Wal Mart to figure that out, it was not without some issues because M's mom seems to be unable to ask a question or make a request or do anything except on her schedule. But I have the house to myself for awhile so I'm happy.

That is cool, Laura. One of my sister's three dogs is terrified by them and thunder storms, and the like. Poor girl.

I got up late this morning, because I couldn't fall asleep last night, which doesn't usually happen. I took one of Matt's trazadones, but it wasn't until couple hours after midnight, so it was a slow wakeup for me. Seven a.m., my body was like, "Nope." So, 9:30a it was!

Now we prepare for two friends coming over for dinner, hanging out, playing games, and watching the ball drop. They don't come until 7:30p, so plenty of time to prepare.

I'm excited to see them and also to cook a filet roast for the first time ever. My mom used to do them for Christmas or the odd birthday or whatever, and they were so good, but I've never done one myself.

I mean, it's not hard... it just feels like a milestone since the only time I've ever had one at home is when my mother did it!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I am here to report: we had an ordinary day.

That's excellent!

Tim just came back from the credit union, where he put his share of the proceeds from his parents' house into an 11-month CD. He was thrilled because its APY is 4.1%, and said "The CD I got last year was barely 1%, I think. Let me look..." and I assume he's going to get into records on his computer. No, he rifled about halfway down a pile of papers on the dining room table, looked at one, and said "Yup, just over 1%."

I asked "That's your filing system???" He said "Yeah; where's yours?" I pointed to my computer. Clearly we have some work to do on maintaining proper records.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I’m so glad the meds are helping and JZ is still able to read. I couldn’t read when I had Covid either.

Thrive to spite them

Covid was just awful in the way it made my brain all foggy and tired.

There is no tv... apparently M's mom missed one of her 3 payments with her previous affirm purchase. Which is disappointing for M....M's mom was like "if you put it in your name I'll pay it for you every month" but M has wisely decided not to go with that option.

And in small things that bother me for some reason- they've been home for awhile now but M's mom still has her coat and hat on, and her purse crossbody and is walking around. She does that a lot and it just...bugs me and I don't know why. Maybe because visually it says "I'm getting ready to leave" when I know she isn't. Plus it just looks uncomfortable.

Of course I'm the person who immediately takes off my shoes as soon as I come in and when I come home from work I take off my bra and switch into comfy around the house clothes.

Our wings are not tired.

Apparently the fireworks are at 8:45 so I'll be able to watch them before heading the bro's place. Traffic will be horrific, but I'll just plan on doing the slow crawl.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay ordinary day!

It was my sister’s 51st birthday yesterday and she and my niece came down to my parents’ on Wednesday and I joined yesterday after work. I told her I didn’t get her anything when I got here (this is a conversation we have on pretty much every birthday of either of ours going back and forth) but then we realized we didn’t have ice cream to have with her cake so I DoorDashed a bunch of treats for NYE and the ice cream so that was her gift. So we have declared the official gift of 51st birthdays robe dairy and artichokes.

Now lazing about a bit waiting for my niece to get up so we can have breakfast, then I will dash home to feed the cat and come back before traffic gets to hairy. Our plans for the evening or nebulous but we will be here celebrating somehow or other and we have lots of snacks and champagne so it will be fine.
