Jeez, don't get all Movie of the Week. I was just too cheap to buy you a real present.

Dear everyone I hope you have good birthdays and don’t get covid and get your hot water/heat/internet back!! We had a couple of lovely warm days here but now are heading back to “not actually warm enough for the pool but still better than seattle”. Not sure what I’m doing tomorrow though, because the two different couples are apparently both going on hikes and I am not invited/don’t want to go, so…hm.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Birthdays Jesse and Theo, and safe journeys and stable utilities to everyone.

Suzi, it's good to see you here--you've been missed. What's been going on with you?

Pix, I hope you get seen and treated and well on your way to healed before your trip.

DH has numbers of Buffistas he's met and he will contact them if something should happen to me.

Parker and her DH came by and we had a nice visit. DH made waffles for lunch, and stayed behind while Parker, her DH and I did a bit of shopping. They headed home after and managed to make it before the deluge hit here--I hope they missed it all the way.

I plan to sleep in and slounge around and read tomorrow. And we've decided to watch LoTR--the extended cuts--before New Year's Day, so we may start that tomorrow night.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Piggybacking on this discussion, the Google doc of Buffista addresses and contact info has a space for emergency contact. You can contact me or jenp or a few others ( please remind me who) to check if your info is up to date.

Our wings are not tired.

Today we celebrate amyparker! Happy birthday! I hope you are being spoiled and celebrated appropriately. May this be a spectacular year.

Suzi, it's good to see you here--you've been missed. What's been going on with you?

Yes! What's up? Yes, please tell us about the grandbaby.

I have hot water again! DH crawled around to see about changing the element and saw the reset was popped. Easy peasy!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Heating~ma to all y'all! And your poor grandmother, aurelia, I hope the salvage is successful.

the Google doc of Buffista addresses and contact info has a space for emergency contact.

Oh! That should be easy enough.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Most of the friends who I talk to on a regular basis, vw, Thessaly, and Victor are also Buffistas. So, there would be no problem on my end.

I have so much to do before the cleaners come tomorrow. Any spare energy~ma lying around?

Compassionately intolerant

David beat me to it. Yep, Cagney and I were outside for a little less than an hour in 'feels like -5' on Xmas eve as the result of a burst sprinkler system pipe in my building. By the grace of all things kind, we were not adversely affected once we got back in.

What in the holy, mechanical/internet/waterworks hell is going on right now?!

Blessings for ease and things working out way better than expected on you all.

I have to go back and read the password conversation after discovering that I was one of the many impacted by the LastPass...pay us so this will never happen to YOU...breach. I need some guidance on what to do better.

And, David, I've been thinking about this notification situation a lot. Moving has done many good things for me, but 2022 was also a time of letting go of most of my local friendships. That's all to the good, but the aloneness carries some inconveniences.

So. Major goal for 2023: Get the non-corporeal crap in order!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

...making a list of key info like passwords and stuff in case of emergency.

Several decades ago, I composed a simple ASCII text file, titled "Somebody Stole My Wallet." I listed all the stuff I normally carried in my wallet, and the details I would need should it ever be stolen.

Over the years since then, I have added to the file. Things like passport details, credit card details, URLs and usernames and passwords for online accounts. Any time I add a new account or change a password, I update the file.

The file lives on a micro-SD memory card plugged into my computer. Once a month it gets copied to a backup thumb drive that has both USB-A and USB-C connectors.

I have a younger relative I trust, who knows where I keep the file. He also has instructions to send a notification email to Jesse if/when something happens to me.

You are an inspiration, dcp. That is something I can create this week. Nice one.
