I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's a great system, dcp

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, that is great.

I'm making a list on paper for my mother, but I realize what I will really need is instructions on how to use LastPass!

This afternoon I shredded and otherwise dealt with probably a year's worth of mail, so I am feeling very accomplished. Filing what needs to be filed is a task for another day.

Our wings are not tired.

My SiL made the best gift ever for Tim and his brothers -- she saved my FiL's button-down shirts after we cleaned out his room at the retirement home after he died in February, and she incorporated them into quilts. There were a few tears, including from me.

My cousin had Charlie’s old flannel shirts made into a quilt that’s on my bed at the cabin. A treasure.

Man I am reading everyone’s heating and plumbing and traveling issues and damn that’s rough and I hope everyone’s warm and home soon.

I’m having a rather low-key and chill Bay Area visit that’s included some aspects that would usually get me way down (or whiny at the least) but I guess I have better perspective these days. I can only laugh that I splurged for a couple of nights at the Ritz upon arrival and got food poisoning or something on the plane? So uh not much luxurious slounging happened there. And whatever it was kept me nauseated and weak for a week, including time in Sonoma that was intended for wine-tasting and such. Well that didn’t happen! Ha!

Looking at any screen made me nauseated so it kept me off the socials for more than a week which was oddly liberating. I’ve enjoyed visits with different friends and family entirely in stealth mode. And last night my friend Jasmine had me over to her new place where she fed me a dinner of homemade bread and soup and chocolate cake and a marathon catchup session. Been a lot of those with dear people this last week.

Alas there is not enough time to see everyone individual (which, is hard for me to deal with sometimes but it’s the cost of moving across the country).

Tonight I’m hoping to see many of you at Arthur Mac’s in Oakland/Berkeley where I’m hosting a pizza and drinks open house for a few hours. I had to use the Facebook events thing but also invited Suela via text. If you’re seeing this and you’re not on FB or I forgot to text you in my nauseated haze last week, know you’re invited and I’d LOVE to see you.

Tomorrow if JZ is up to it, I get to see her and the new house and of course Hec and anyone else who’s around. Then I drove up to the cabin where I’m spending a few days with my Sacramento fam.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Tomorrow if JZ is up to it, I get to see her and the new house and of course Hec and anyone else who’s around.

We are looking forward to it!

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

I'm so glad you're getting to see some people, even though it's hard not being able to see everyone. I wish I could teleport to your pizza and drinks event! I'm so sorry about the food poisoning. The worst!

Yay, adulting, Jesse! Yay hot water, Laura! Yay pain mostly under control, JZ!

The dogs and I are currently sitting in ND's home office (the converted end of our garage) while the house cleaners clean our main house. I was grading a bit and feeling vaguely productive, but now the dogs are napping and I'm on a soft couch and the rain is gently falling...I have a feeling I may be asleep soon. For those interested in the continuing MRI saga, the doctor's office was able to expedite the order again, so it's finally approved, but the first available appointment is Jan. 10, so I guess I'll just hobble around and be as gentle as I can to it until then. At least I have an appointment on the calendar now. I'm counting that as a win.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S has had a cough and some congestion(he tested negative for COVID) so the nanny decided not to come today. Hopefully he'll be better, since Gary has things he needs to get done.

Glad you’re having a nice visit Java! It sounds neat and I would totally go to your event if I were around, I bet it’ll be interesting people!

I’ve had a very nice time here in SoCal but am not looking forward to the long drive home. And a bit worried I’ll get home and find things have busted in the ice freeze

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I am feeling somewhat accomplished today, with one software fix and one hardware fix. I found and installed the right Realtek patch to get my laptop to work with a wired ethernet connection and an ethernet-to-USB-C adapter without a BSOD every twenty minutes, and I got the windshield washer fluid lines on my car thawed out and unblocked and working again.

Our wings are not tired.

Health~ma to all that be ailing.

I'm having a good day. I gave my eldest and his girlfriend gift cards for Christmas, and my son used his to buy me a super snazzy keyboard like his own that I had admired. He said he wanted to get me one for a while but didn't have the funds so my gift card made it possible. Took him 30 years to get it right, but I think he has turned a corner.
