I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I will start with Christmas decorating tomorrow. Today I was out and about. Got gifts for 4 people, warm white lights that ALL F*IN MATCH for the tree (the last two years have been mis-matched bright white and I hates it), new christmas pjs for me, some books, and dog food. 4 small stores, 2 box stores. Plus 2 meals out from small local places. all in all pretty good.

Mac worked from 8-4.

Tomorrow he does that shift again and I really wish he could get on it permanently.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Xmas music has been playing in the lab since last week, at least when my supervisor is there.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

How's Mac doing, msbelle?

My outside lights are apparently not working but I don't feel like dealing with them now.

Jesse, he's doing well. Working 20-30 hours a week. Taking a free online class in music. saving a tiny bit of money, but that should build up much faster after the first of the year.

That's great.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Well, I went to Trader Joe’s to pick up a wreath that I could decorate for the door, and they were out. I went to put up my outdoor lights and they weren’t working. I bought new ones and couldn’t find the outside extension cord. So I said, “Screw it,” and finished up the leftover Thanksgiving pie while reading fic.

I’m glad to hear that DCJensen is home, though.

Glad to hear Mac is doing well, msbelle.

So glad to hear DCJ is home.

I haven't done any decorating yet, but I hope to pull out the tree tomorrow. We don't really have outdoor stuff, but I want to start building that this year. Nothing over the top, but some lights for sure.

(Honestly, I want the giant-ass, wire-frame, glittery, lighted snowman I saw at Costco. But not $500 or whatever worth of want. Maybe after-Christmas if it goes deep discount... but... how do you even store those things? Anyway.)

Everyone's food sounds so good.

Spent half the the day building (we'll, sous building, for my part) an Ikea chest of drawers. Not done, but no stress, so that was awesome.

Tomorrow having dinner with my friend who just got back from laying his dad to rest and cleaning out the house, etc., with his sibs, so it will be good to see him and... commune.

Our wings are not tired.

Also, I cannot stress how very very very much I love rocks. I'm like a 7-year-old.

My mom was this way. Always brought home a rock from wherever she visited. Shir sent me some rocks from Jerusalem for her, which was a real joy for her Catholic heart. She took a couple of geology courses at the local community college.

Very good to hear that Mac is doing well. It is surely a tough transition for him.

Yay, Daniel! Wound recovery sucks. My stepdad spent months in and out of the oxygen tank and had all manner of surgery for a random cut he got working in the yard. Tricky business. Follow the instructions and give Andi a big hug.

No decorating yet, maybe later today? I really need to do a bit of cleanup first.

The cat has been on the balcony twice now. She seems skittish to a certain degree as she is aware of the height. Brendon is really afraid she is going to try and jump up on the railing, which would not end well as it is only a couple of inches wide or so. I need to figure something out before the weather gets so nice I want to have the doors open all the time. Maybe I can add a screen door. I don't think there is anything I can do with the railing itself that wouldn't violate condo rules.

Also, we seem to have misplaced the mailbox key, which is not good. I did get the mail directly from the carrier while she was filling the boxes yesterday so I got our new driver's licenses.

My dad was the same way at 83. I used to joke that I could never have an outdoor wedding, because Dad would stop to look at a pretty rock in the middle of walking me down the aisle. My great niece is also very into rocks, but she’s only pushing four. We’ll see if her obsession has staying power.

Yesterday wasn’t too bad, much as I complained about it upthread. More a series of “Really? Really?!?” at increasing volume. But today I’m drinking good coffee in the light of my Christmas tree, listening to cold rain falling in a world that I don’t have to go out into, and that’s a pretty good way to start the day.

Excellent way to start the day! I started with TJ's GF pumpkin pancakes, which I also recommend.

Tree today, I plan.
