We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The game in the brewpub was okay, only a few people there, all of whom seemed to know each other. I should go there more often, build some neighborhood connections.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am bringing in the fucking holiday spirit if it kills me. I've put up lights outside, put up my silver tree, filled up an advent calendar for my mother, and am making a pumpkin cheesecake pie right now.

I am bringing in the fucking holiday spirit if it kills me.

I did some Small Business Saturday shopping today, and the coffee shop was all decked out for Christmas, which looked nice, but the only music they were playing was Christmas music, which just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. Probably because it's almost 60 here. Weird how the decorations didn't bug me but the music did.

I have a loaf of pumpkin chocolate chip bread in the oven right now.

filled up an advent calendar for my mother

I got a squid facts scratch-off advent calendar for Tim, and he got me a National Geographic rock* advent calendar, because we are extremely nerdy.

*(Rocks as in geologic formations, not AC/DC.) (Also, I cannot stress how very very very much I love rocks. I'm like a 7-year-old. The only reasons I don't have shiny rocks all around the house is because we don't need more clutter. [Although I suppose we're about to get 24 new shiny rocks.] I am so fucking excited about this advent calendar, I can't even tell you.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I was planning to make sherried mushrooms and goat cheese in phyllo cups on Thursday. Got as far as cooking the mushrooms and scrapped it since I wasn’t really feeling it. Maybe tomorrow.

But we had a nice cheese board and my mom’s hot artichoke dip and a big pot of chili. Plus pies. And just enough of everything to send C home with leftovers and have a second helping of everything yesterday and very little to deal with now.

And I was literally just talking about getting some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies on.

Update: pumpkin chocolate chip bread is very tasty. Especially warm, when the chocolate chips are all soft and gooey.

I'll have to make pumpkin something else, since I only used part of the can. Oh no whatever shall I do.

You should go listen to the end of yesterday's NPR Politics Podcast. At about 21 minutes in, Miles Parks starts talking about this very thing. [link]
