Y’all. My 5:00 bus never came and the next one that showed up was going out of service so I waited an hour and a half at the transit center. At least it was pleasant weather. So I stopped at one of the only restaurants on the way home that is open on Tuesdays and ordered the “special” Chardonnay and the market price fish because I’m so hungry and that was easy. It is all quite delicious. Glad I am wfh tomorrow.

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Trying to remember what the polite way to butter bread is. Tear of a small piece and butter that, right? I doubt the waitress or the one other person eating care, but I am making an effort.
but I am making an effort.
I'll make you a little placard that says, "I'm not feral."
That would be helpful! If possibly misleading. I’m pretty feral. Less so now that I’ve eaten, probably.
I do not recall the appropriate way to butter bread, but I did get the Bonne Maman jam advent calendar and am going to start it soon (since as a single person I can’t eat a tiny jam every day for 24 days!). AND I have volunteered to put together a butter tasting (taste off?) for a friend. Testing a bunch of different butters.
I miss the Danish butter we had in Germany. There was some embargo or something on US butter so the commissary stocked it from Denmark. When someone says "sweet butter" as opposed to salt butter--Danish butter is actually so light and fresh it's almost sweet.
In public I break bread in half to butter it--a roll or biscuit, separate top from bottom, and I butter each so the butter melts and soaks in. Toast, if it isn't cut, I cut or tear in half and butter each half, again while the toast is warm so the butter melts in. If that's uncouth, then so be it. I like my butter melty.
-t I am your wfh twin today.
I was hoping for a slow day so I could crank on some paper processing, but the phone has been pretty much non-stop ringing. BOO!
I also plan on taking lots of breaks, so those phone calls better stop. I am working from the basement, so I can start moving myself out of the basement through the day.
Mac will be down here for at least two weeks, as I have cousins coming for a visit 9/16 and they will have the guest room. Makes no sense for him to stay in the guest room one week and then move down here.
I think the basement will be better for him anyway. private entrance, his own toilet and sink, his own tv, and super conducive to sleep which I think he will need a lot of at first. My guess is that his brain has been in fight/flight/freeze mode for months.
I think if you're not picking up sticks or pats of butter with your fingers and gnawing on them in the restaurant (what you do at home is your own business) you're fine.
I've had a pint of my favorite Ben & Jerry's (coffee toffee crunch) in the freezer since last Friday afternoon, and I'm not even halfway through it. Should I call a doctor or a priest? 54 seems a little late to be developing restraint.
That sounds like a pretty good arrangement for an adult child coming home to regroup
A butter tasting sounds fun! I have splurged on expensive fancy butter from grass-fed cows that lived in spa like luxury or something on occasion, out of curiosity, and it really did taste pretty amazingly good. And hooray tiny jams!
It’s opened but not finished, Calli? How unusual for B&J!
