I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

A cold grits sandwich seems like a metaphor for something

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I will take your rolled oats and your raisins. And your grits, assuming adequate cheese is involved.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

There is, as far as I can tell, no difference whatsoever between grits and polenta except what you call them. Either the porridge style preparation or the chilled and fried version are common to both.

Our wings are not tired.

You know I am not one to use potty language, but my son just posted a meme that cracked me up.

I'm thrilled to have my taxes go toward anyone's education because the fewer stupid motherfuckers the better.

I know it is a complex situation, and that student debt forgiveness doesn't fix the underlying issues, but I still think the above is a valid argument.

Happy birthday, lisah!

In other news, my manager wants to put me up for promotion and I need to select some reviewers within the next couple of hours. Since this now is the very last thing I want to do because brain weasels, I need to figure out how to bribe myself into doing this ONE TASK.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Happy birthday, lisah!

My vacation starts next Friday, and it is long overdue. I'm forgetting things and getting sloppy at work, and since at least 50% of my work is QA these days, that's very much Not Good. I'm hoping a week and change off will help that.

I rather like raisins in a number of things. I just don't like biting into something where I'm expecting chocolate chips and getting raisins instead. That's not so much anti-raisin as it is pro-chocolate.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

my manager wants to put me up for promotion

Yay! (Right? Yay?)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

There is, as far as I can tell, no difference whatsoever between grits and polenta except what you call them.

They're made with different types of corn traditionally, and ground to different textures, but there are so many different brands nowadays putting whatever label on their products that the distinction has gotten pretty blurred.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

There is, as far as I can tell, no difference whatsoever between grits and polenta except what you call them. Either the porridge style preparation or the chilled and fried version are common to both.

Strictly speaking they are made from different varieties of corn, but I doubt most people could tell the difference in a blind taste test.
