So it's a daunting day already.
Anne Heche is being taken off life support, Salman Rushdie got stabbed in the neck, and one of my Kenyon acquaintances died unexpectedly (and I suspect suicide).
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I'm sorry to hear about your college friend, Hec. That's hard.

He wasn't close. He was somebody I met at the first reunion, and got so notoriously drunk at the event that he had to be bailed out of jail. But he had been a reporter whose job had dried up several years ago. Not married. And I think he was just lonely and hopeless.
I'm sorry about your friend, Daivd.
I am confident that Garland will act when he has an open and shut case.
I like this response to GOP moaning about not seeing the warrant yet. [link]
Which would not prevent him from running for governor of Florida, however. But, then, they deserve him.
Oh, please let Trump and DeSantis devour one another in a fight for FL power!
Apparently someone shared the warrant with Breitbart? WTF. Twitter is claiming the statutes referenced on the warrant relate to obstruction of justice and espionage. The mind reels.
Disqualified for federal office works for me.
The Breitbart version doesn't redact a lot of things that it should, like the agent names.
Which puts the agents at risk from extremists.
It's interesting to see who of the GOP has been quiet and who is still trying to defend Trump or make this seem like it's no big deal/political persecution. Although I have seen the spin that since the warrant doesn't say the word "nuclear" that means it wasn't about nuclear weapons. It just says "Information, including communications in any form, regarding the retrieval, storage, or transmission of national defense information or classified material"
One of my former professors left Chautauqua 2 hours before Salmon Rushdie was stabbed and then shared the news that one of my other old professors (the one who introduced me to Brecht) passed away today.
It was at Chautauqua? I was literally just trying to describe that to Javachik today. (Due to my current location being "Chautauqua-by-the-sea" [link] )
