She's terse. I can be terse. Once in flight school, I was laconic.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

One of my former professors left Chautauqua 2 hours before Salmon Rushdie was stabbed and then shared the news that one of my other old professors (the one who introduced me to Brecht) passed away today.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It was at Chautauqua? I was literally just trying to describe that to Javachik today. (Due to my current location being "Chautauqua-by-the-sea" [link] )

Yes- It is ALL OVER the local news here because it was somewhat “local”.

My professor’s family is the kind that used to “summer” and I think they still have a family summer house in Chautauqua. She also went to Mount Holyoke and babysat for John Irving. But there is really no more family money.

Also, I knew there WERE Chautauqua’s everywhere, but I didn’t know they still existed.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The BBC had a report from a freelance reporter who was attending the Rushdie talk. It was pretty horrifying, and they talked a lot about how little security Rushdie seemed to have, given the fact that the fatwa is apparently still in place. It's so sad.

How awful.

Our wings are not tired.

It really is horrific. I know living sheltered with security must suck, but so does getting stabbed! It sounds like he is in pretty bad shape.

Off to see my SIL in NJ this morning (after the gym). Just overnight to see a play in the park near her then back tomorrow. More excursions more often is my new objective.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am sort of working. Logged into the work laptop while IT takes it over remotely to update my Citrix receiver. He didn’t have time to do it yesterday and I won’t have time Monday so here we are. And it looks like he dl’d the wrong one yesterday so first we will get another version…

I did my morning pool stuff, ate lunch, and now I'm guessing we're about to do the crossword.

I have a game night elsewhere tonight, so I will go buy some sort of savory app to take (don't feel like making stuff), and then I think chill and read until we leave.

Tomorrow I will work some.

Update did not fix my problem, alas. Neither did switching browsers to Edge.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

I got groceries and now I need to do laundry. The weather is perfect, so I might loaf in the hammock for the rest of the day.

Tim and his brothers have been sorting through stuff at their parents' house so they can empty it so that it can be painted before it gets listed (unless a private sale happens). I've been staying home and letting them do their brother thing, so I've been binge-watching Roswell and making oven nachos. Tonight is season 3 and, instead of nachos, sushi and probably a lot of olives and feta cheese.
