Because books.

David, what about MacLean Stevenson/Henry Blake on MASH?

Also, hi, everybody. ::waves::

Because books.

Ah, Henry Blake is taken.

One death that was really a shock and a heartbreaker for me was Adriana on The Sopranos.

Also, Mr. Hooper from Sesame Street is a great one, which someone (I forgot to reread!) mentioned above.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Maybe Tara from BTVS? Or Quentin on The Magicians?

I think only one per show, so can't be Tara. Quentin is a good choice, as it kind of killed off the show as well.

Eva Green's Vanessa Ives on Penny Dreadful should count, right? A ruinous ending to a great show.

Oh, didn't John Ritter die while he was starring on a sitcom, mid-season?

I think that's right.

I don't know how the show dealt with it, but that's a significant loss.

Phil Esterhaus (Michael Conrad), Hill Street Blues.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I decided to do Vanessa Ives on Penny Dreadful.
