May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Those all sounds like good weekends! It was pride this weekend, but felt a little underwhelming? Not sure why. I went out Friday night until almost midnight, Saturday hosted brunch which was great, and then did some walking around the street fair and hanging out with friends, home for a bit of rest, and then dancing, where I got v drunk and after a couple hours wandering the block party drinking water and starting to already feel hungover, went home. Slept in a bit this morning and then met friends for a while at the block party. Maybe I should’ve gone to the parade or the main festival? May still go back to the block party in a bit, it’s very hot out today.

I figure after this weekend if I don’t get covid it’ll be a miracle.

My sister is visiting for a couple of days, so I took her around Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park then to the California Academy of Sciences. Afterward we grabbed burritos and did some shopping. We'll do Alcatraz tomorrow.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

My long Covid-related fatigue has been kicking my ass lately, to the point where, if I do anything outside my usual routine, I am wiped out for the next 2-3 days. (And by "outside my usual routine", I mean even something like going to my mom's for dinner, which involved sitting and eating, which don't require high levels of exertion, and certainly shouldn't make a person tired the next day, much less the next 2-3 days.) So I saw the nurse practitioner at Awesome Doctor's office on Friday, to see what, if anything, I can do about this. We talked for a while (she also had Covid twice, so she was entirely on my wavelength for some of my concerns), and the first step was to draw blood for a CBC, iron level, B12 level, and vitamin D level.

Lab results show up basically the same day in MyChart, so Friday evening I saw that pretty much everything is normal except my vitamin D level is so low that it's classified as "severe deficiency," so I assume that Awesome Nurse Practitioner will call me or send a message through MyChart tomorrow about the sky-high dose of vitamin D supplementation I'll need.

All the reading I did on vitamin D deficiency this weekend made me realize 2 things: (1) I have almost every symptom of vitamin D deficiency except bone pain and hair loss. I had no idea it could fuck you up so much. (2) The crushing fatigue might not be from long Covid; it might just be from the vitamin D deficiency. That would be fantastic, because it's a relatively simple fix.

Also, Tim told me my vitamin D level is so low because I'm a vampire who never goes outside. I bit his neck in retaliation.

Ooh, fingers crossed for the easy fix.

I wish running tests and bloodwork wasn't so restricted by insurance companies. I know many people who've been diagnosed way after the fact with something that a comprehensive workup would have caught. Particularly thyroid issues which can be extremely debilitating and manifest in a variety of ways.

Our wings are not tired.

Happy JZ day! It is wonderful to envision you celebrating your birthday in your new home. I do hope that this is a joyful year.

but I'm pretty sure she'd find something to complain about anyway

Yes. I have a long standing deal with DH. He can do things his way, or I can do them my way, but it isn't part of the deal that I do things his way. Or that he has to do things my way. If you don't like the way things are done, then do them yourself!

Vitamin D deficiency is a big deal. Even living in Florida and getting too much sun my doctor has me taking it.

{{Jesse}} Good to be with the fam, despite the sad reason.

I figure after this weekend if I don’t get covid it’ll be a miracle.

Sending negative wishes all round. Too many getting infected again.

My sister is visiting for a couple of days

Enjoy the sibling touristy time. We do tend to see our own sites only when we have visitors.

I'm glad you've found the probable source of your issue and that it should be an easy fix for you, Steph!

Not coming up with a lot of words this morning. Huh.

Thrive to spite them

Besides Vitamin D deficiency the other to loom out for is B12. My aunt (my dad's sister who was my grandmother's caregiver) was having major memory problems to the point her doctor was worried about early on set dementia. She was also having pains in her hands and wrists she thought was arthritis

Turned out her B12 was severely low . She had to get shots weekly for awhile. The pain was from nerve damage by the deficiency as well.amd i think some of the damage was permanent.

Happy Birthday, JZ!!!!

Turned out her B12 was severely low.

I've been taking a separate B12 supplement for a month or so, because I had read that B12 can be low in people with long Covid. The blood test on Friday did test for B12 levels, and they were actually too high, which I assume means I didn't need the extra supplement and kind of ODed myself on B12. (Obviously I stopped it right away.)
