We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Sheryl, just popping by to echo everyone else said — you two are doing the absolute best you can for your kiddo in incredibly difficult circumstances. You are wonderful parents, and I'm wishing you all the best.

Our wings are not tired.

Everybody is doing tracking now and texting you on exact arrivals. It's great.

It is great! I do love much of technology marching forward with cool improvements in life.

I *am* going to see Hamlet in July!

That is absolutely fabulous!!! So glad you are doing this. You deserve all the good things!

Sheryl, I'm sorry you missed the on-line meeting. I hope they are able to put together an effective plan of action for your family.

Round trip to Albany was easy enough, with yummy sushi at the mall where I charged the car. Beats the WaWa salads that are my more usual charging meals. Alas, DH's flight was delayed so he won't get in until 9ish which messes up his plans for fun times with his siblings.

Met with the contractors yesterday and have a plan there. Need to pick some windows tomorrow. I have a feeling many of my selections will depend on availability. They are going to put in radiant heat flooring panels (warm toes) and a tankless water heater to improve life in the Adirondacks quite a lot.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I have a feeling many of my selections will depend on availability.

We had to wait 9 weeks to get our curved glass windows for the Cupola/Turret. But they're supposed to go back in next week [knock wood].

They are going to put in radiant heat flooring panels (warm toes) and a tankless water heater to improve life in the Adirondacks quite a lot.

We're thinking about putting in a heat pump to cool off the attic, and solar panels on our roof.

I have survived the Steeplechase of a day! Got everything prepped for the movers. Then went to the new house and received the mattress deliveries. (right on time) Met the movers (right on time) and directed them where to place everything. Gave them whopping big tips because we have heavy wooden furniture and steep steps. "Here's $40 for the steep steps, and an extra $10 for cerveza."

Thought I had a half hour window before the cable person came, but she arrived early! Had to scurry back from the local store with my Forbidden Sandwich and cold beer, but she got our cable functional, though now we have to get a new modem.

Then Matilda brought over her friend Iris and showed her everything. Then Iris' mom, Janet, came by and I gave her the full tour. And our downstairs tenant, Jamille, was doing her weekly organic farm co-op out of the garage, and I got to meet all the neighbors picking up their veg and pet their sweet doggos. I think I petted six or seven new dogs today.

In the meantime Jacqueline went and bought the linoleum to re-do the kitchen floor in the apartment, and guess what? It's super heavy. She just washed down the living room floor of the apartment (which had been under a dusty rug for decades, and now we can plop down the new rug.

At 9am tomorrow the Tile Guy comes to do the flooring, and between now and then I have to take down my computer set-up and get everything out of the kitchen (which is not too hard at this point since the movers already came today and removed the table and boxes).

I am really tired, thick with sweat, and I've got grime rimmed fingernails. I'm ready for a hot shower and a cold beverage.

Our wings are not tired.

Have popcorn and have settled in the watch the hearings. Alas, no booze.

A friend invited me over for dinner and watching some tv and showed me the first ep of OFMD, and also I found out there are FIVE seasons of repair shop on discovery and I may have to get it for a month just to watch them. I’m still really mad at myself for scraping up the side of my car in the stupid parking lot though.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Throwing this out there on the chance someone might be interested in a getaway.

I’m traveling June 25-28 and Oct 5-11. If anyone is interested in house and dog sitting, I can offer a/c, wifi, Netflix, Hulu, laundry, a full fridge, full pantry, semi-stocked bar, deck with sunshade and grill. And use of my car if interested. Not a resort by any means, but a pretty cheap vacation if you don’t mind walking the dogs once a day, letting them out 2-3 more times, feeding twice a day and giving 2 insulin shots per day.

Hit me up if interested. And I could help cover travel costs.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Shoot, those dates don't work for me. Too bad since I am in a mood to travel for whimsical reasons.

Gonna be a scorcher today. I was tempted to go work in the office where it is air conditioned but ultimately chose to stay home and work in shorts and a sports bra with a fan pointed at me (after getting an affogato for breakfast, yum!). Actually working does not appeal at all, unfortunately.

Coding and Sleeping

I can understand work not appealing. I'm going through a bit of a burn-out phase so I've self-imposed a moratorium on doing side-project coding. I'll be taking a vacation on the week of the 4th, so that should help as well I'm hoping.

Been thinking about about replacing my car especially after discovering that the trade in value is basically the same as what I paid for it over two years ago. I've become interested in the Chevy Bolt EUV since GM announced it would be reducing the price by $6300 for the 2023 model. The Bolt's tech isn't what it once was, but that price reduction really helps the affordability. However, I want to wait and see if EV tax credits come back for GM and Tesla (Toyota and Ford are due to run out before long as well). There's talk of it, but I'm not real hopeful. Still thinking about a Ford Maverick too, but it's August before orders open up again and as useful as a little hybrid pickup would be, I like the idea of going electric instead. Kia Niro plug-in hybrid also sounds good, but full electric would mean be there would be less to maintain though it would make most of my trips doable without gas.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Same! We still have the 2000 Echo, because it doesn't get a lot of use since I work from home, but it's really at the point where it doesn't make sense financially to continue to make repairs. (My joke is that, since the gas tank is full, 90% of the car's current value is from the full gas tank.)

full electric would mean be there would be less to maintain though it would make most of my trips doable without gas.

Tim's work is 11 miles away, and he really wants something electric for that commute. We would keep the Corolla (which is almost 10 years old now and has 103,000 miles on it) as the second car.

I was behind a Chevy Bolt at a stoplight the other day and was struck by what a cute car it was.

EtA woes, my quickedit didn't work. You all know what I mean, I think.
