Go, msbelle.

Good news, Laura!

Boo to migraine, meara. Not on.

Apparently it's 65° here today. Guess I will take a walk.

The day is going too fast at the moment. Needs to slow its roll.

Boo to omicron blues, but yay for decorating the new house!!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

JZ's dad gave her $900 in credit at Crate and Barrel which he somehow got through frequent flier miles (I think). And we've never really been able to use it because our apartment is already furnished and it's small.

But now we're getting new stuff for the new place and we've got two whole units to fill. So we're trying to combine our credit with the President's Day Sale and I'm looking at things like this: [link]

Which looks really cool if we can get past the snicker-able name.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Which looks really cool if we can get past the snicker-able name.

You get that FOR the name. Lean into it. Be 12 every goddamn morning as you sip your espresso.

Excellent strategy.

Thrive to spite them

I would lean hard into it and make a whole Red Dwarf themed espresso area and find a toaster that at least said "toast!" When the toast popped up .

I'm at mom's, tomorrow is my dental appointment. Mom got a call from Jay's fiancee who added in my aunt and it was about the services for Jay. The lawyers are advising that no paternity test is acknowledgement of this other kid be done and the mom is still threatening to make a scene if the kid isn't acknowledged. I understand why the lawyers are advising this but my aunt got...confused and upset on the phone. Jay's fiancee feels she shouldn't have to deal with any of it.

From over hearing my aunt it's clear that she needs to be in an assisted living situation and doesn't need to be taking care of anyone. But she won't consider not taking care of her grandson because it would be shirker her responsibilities. But she also says she can't make any decisions and needs someone...I guess mom to do that for her.

Also the house wasn't paid off and mom was saying she doesn't think my aunt is competent to agree to the loan and fully understand and remember what happened.

This is just a mess and mom has said what seems like the easiest thing is for her to move in with them and take care of it all. But that would destroy mom's mental health.

I wish there was such a thing as a fairy godmother or someone who could make miracles happen.

For the love of all...if you have kids please have life insurance and a will. And encourage everyone you know to do the same.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My highlight of the day was: Not spending most of it in the bedroom.

I ran early (masked of course) when the stadium was pretty empty.

JZ and Matilda, and her friend Mia left the house by noon, so I could roam around the house a bit and make myself some chili.

Jacqueline went by Community Thrift and bought a rocking chair that made her happy, a steamer trunk with a vintage Raffles Hotel Singapore sticker and a sturdy drop-leaf kitchen table that just needs her tender loving refinishing skills.

Still on the hunt for the ultimate Club Chair/Reading Chair. Leather, sturdy, just the right height, just the right amount of depth and cushion, wide arms. It's out there! I know because I used to sit in one at The Bindery.

How does everybody feel about green and white checkered floor tile for the kitchen? I've always been drawn to it and we keep finding green things for the kitchen.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

How does everybody feel about green and white checkered floor tile

First impression: no

Second impression: mostly white with green accent tiles might be okay. But not eye-bending busy checkerboard.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Who remembers the floor in the shop in Chocolat? Why do I think it was good? Lemme image search.

No. It's a star-and-block quilt-type pattern. Far too busy for a home kitchen. Nostalgic, though. Or maybe I just need to watch the movie again.

Our wings are not tired.

Thank you! How dorky is it to be tickled by my birthday being 2/22/22! If only I were 22, but 68 will do just fine.
