How much longer are you bound to durance vile, David?
I'm going to need a couple negative tests at least.
So pretty! Will you be renting out part of it?
The bottom floor has long term tenants (12 years) and they'll be staying and paying us rent.
So we've got the top floor (all the pictures with the lovely painted walls), and the attic space (with bedroom and enough other room to put our library up there), and the garden apartment (2 bedrooms, bath, kitchen, separate entrance) that we can use for guests or a rec room for Matilda's friends, or Emmett or as extra office space to get some separation while people are working from home.
Jacqueline envisions the attic to be a combo of library reading room AND all the attics in all the children's books that had a big Victorian steamer trunk filled with clothes, costumes, old photo albums and family mysteries and a dressmaker's dummy in the corner and probably a secret little door where magical creatures troop in and out.

I was picturing much the same thing looking at it. It sounds absolutely lovely!
Rapid heart rate here. All is well, but a bit of a (not me) medical scare. We had gone to Fort Lauderdale to fix my MIL's kitchen disposal and were driving back home when a man stopped in the middle of the intersection. Major city intersection. Of course Brendon pulled up next to him as the man was getting out of the car to offer to help push the car out of the way, but the car wasn't the issue. Man was seriously disoriented and just said he needed help. Brendon talked to him while I called 911. Fortunately another young man (with two little kids in the car) ran over and talked the man into getting into the passenger seat so he could drive the car into the corner gas station. 911 kept me on the phone until the rescue team got there. Poor man was on his way home from church. His suit jacket still on the side seat. Seemed like maybe a diabetes disorientation or something. Thankful he didn't keep driving, although he could hardly have picked a worse place to just stop. He was oriented enough to call his wife on the phone and tell us her name. Rescue people of course were awesome. Took him away in ambulance.
Anyway, I hope he is okay. Just grateful he didn't get hit or walk into the road before we got to him.

JZ basically has license to go antiquing with her mother in Reno and find us some cool old shit!

Stressy! Good job, good samaritans though.

The best antiquing is in New England, ijs.
Just tested again. Still positive but the line was more faint (if that means anything). It's been a week. Bah.

Bit of a hike for the transportation costs, I'm afraid.
Which is the only reason I didn't buy that gorgeous Art Deco vanity in New Orleans that one time in the 80s when it was only $230.
I'm also happy to go thrifting and vintage rummaging locally--I know all the SF spots, but if any broader-Bay-Area localistas want to hit me up with your favorite thrift/vintage/consignment/miscellaneous stuff places in the North, South and East Bays, and maybe plan an outing, let me know.
This poor place has a crapton of long-deferred maintenance, most of which isn't critical but a couple of items of which
are,
so we're gonna need to pour most of our extra funds into addressing those items, and any furnishings we can find at thrift store prices will help.
I know the Oakland Museum White Elephant Sale is legendary--and also happening in-person again in March, so I'm definitely doing that. What else? Where else?
JZ, you need to visit my friend's shop in the Midtown Bliss antique mall in Sacramento!!! This is her shop:
