What you did to me was unbelievable, Connor. But then I got stuck in a hell dimension by my girlfriend one time for a hundred years, so three months under the ocean actually gave me perspective. Kind of a M.C. Escher perspective, but I did get time to think.

M & I should take diapers because the GF's parents are raffling off a shotgun.

I am not seeing the connection.

I was doing so well today. Got out of the house, ran errands, started knitting, but I had a headache (took meds) and I cannot get comfortable or warm. I already took a shower this morning, but I think I need another or a hot soak bath to warm up and reset the day.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S woke up before 6 and got into bed with me. Of course, he didn't go back to sleep. He was behaving awfully until the meds kicked in.(Getting him to take them was a challenge as usual.) He's spent most of the day in his room, and hasn't changed out of his pajamas. Oh, well...

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am not seeing the connection

I've been invited to baby showers where for every box of diapers you bring (or something like that) you get a raffle ticket although the prize for us was cookware because it was through work. I imagine this is like that.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

tl;dr I don't trust my landlord to install and properly maintain a smart lock that has robust security and a good user experience, or provide any support to the residents when things go wrong. I'm sure there are companies out there who have a reasonably safe product.

I work in tech and part of my job is to think about how anything can be abused, so I can see the worst case scenarios, especially with a company backed by Bain Capital Ventures with a shitty app, bad customer service, and a habit of not responding to journalists when asked if they're using certain locks or hubs that have been hacked.

ETA: As Maintenance Phase would say, if you like your smart lock, you can keep your smart lock! For me, it's solving a problem that I don't have and introducing easily half a dozen more.

Wow, shrift, yeah, that sounds pretty unsettling. Good luck negotiating with your landlord.

I would also like to know what's the advantage to the landlord of having these electronic locks? They sound expensive to install and possibly fiddly to maintain.

That's what I was wondering, Consuela.

Yesterday was very non-productive, which is fine, except it was mostly because I was feeling crappy due to physical issues which I will not TMI you with. Better today, it seems. Cautiously optimistic.

My DP bought an eltronic drumkit yesterday! He's been wanting one (again) for a long time. Apparently it's a downgrade from what he used to have, but since he doesn't, you know, perform and tour, he decided that was OK. Get ready for the obvious: Drums are fun! Less so without the amp turned on, but I figured I'd be kind while I practiced a very simple beat this morning.

Thrive to spite them

Apparently Diaper raffles are a thing in baby showers - people bring packs of diapers and get a raffle ticket and win some kind of prize.

In this case it's a gun. I'm not sure why other than this is the South and there is a big gun culture.

I did not end up going at all. We had procrastinated and ended up going to WalMart for baby present and I hadn't slept well and just felt horrible. I got dizzy and stuff and ended up staying home. The shower was at their church , I guess, and mostly outside and he said there were some people who mostly sat away from everyone and distanced from each other so there were some precautions.

Then today M's back was really bothering him, he was helping yesterday move some stuff at the shower when he shouldn't have. So we aren't going up to Mom's today but hoping his back will be well enough tomorrow he can drive me up for my appointment.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, this is embarrassing, but maybe my dumbness can help others: for a while I've wished I could do puzzles in my house. (Sometimes I do one with my mother.) But I know my cat would knock it all off the table as soon as I turn around. I'm vaguely aware of products to store a puzzle on, but that seems like a lot of effort. NO! There is a puzzle mat I can get at the Michael's down the street for TEN DOLLARS.

I never googled this before? Sheesh.
