That's what I was wondering, Consuela.

Yesterday was very non-productive, which is fine, except it was mostly because I was feeling crappy due to physical issues which I will not TMI you with. Better today, it seems. Cautiously optimistic.

My DP bought an eltronic drumkit yesterday! He's been wanting one (again) for a long time. Apparently it's a downgrade from what he used to have, but since he doesn't, you know, perform and tour, he decided that was OK. Get ready for the obvious: Drums are fun! Less so without the amp turned on, but I figured I'd be kind while I practiced a very simple beat this morning.

Thrive to spite them

Apparently Diaper raffles are a thing in baby showers - people bring packs of diapers and get a raffle ticket and win some kind of prize.

In this case it's a gun. I'm not sure why other than this is the South and there is a big gun culture.

I did not end up going at all. We had procrastinated and ended up going to WalMart for baby present and I hadn't slept well and just felt horrible. I got dizzy and stuff and ended up staying home. The shower was at their church , I guess, and mostly outside and he said there were some people who mostly sat away from everyone and distanced from each other so there were some precautions.

Then today M's back was really bothering him, he was helping yesterday move some stuff at the shower when he shouldn't have. So we aren't going up to Mom's today but hoping his back will be well enough tomorrow he can drive me up for my appointment.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, this is embarrassing, but maybe my dumbness can help others: for a while I've wished I could do puzzles in my house. (Sometimes I do one with my mother.) But I know my cat would knock it all off the table as soon as I turn around. I'm vaguely aware of products to store a puzzle on, but that seems like a lot of effort. NO! There is a puzzle mat I can get at the Michael's down the street for TEN DOLLARS.

I never googled this before? Sheesh.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S waited until after 7 this morning to get up. This is what passes for sleeping in in our house. Currently he is in his room with his tablet, and I am still thawing out from being outside for over an hour.(He saw the neighbor kids playing on the playground and decided to get dressed and go out to play with them.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

but that seems like a lot of effort. NO! There is a puzzle mat I can get at the Michael's down the street for TEN DOLLARS.

Solution!

Did you see the ultra complicated table Simone Gertz did to solve the same problem? A cool build: [link]

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I love her and I love this specific project!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, see, I thought the answer had to be like that!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I got a catalog from Herrschner's this weekend that had puzzle things - including a mat that you can roll up with your partially assembled puzzle in it. (Also things that allow you to make the completed puzzle permanent and display it as art.)

In regard to the smart lock ... I was reading that the IRS may require facial recognition to access your tax return information. I need to do a closer read, but I'm very wary of facial recognition software - from what I've read, it's only close to 100% reliable for white men. oy

At my office we had our restrooms redone. Major job - took a little over two months. It's kind of bad - everything's supposed to be contactless (toilet flushing, water, soap dispenser) which is fine. When it works. Sometimes the toilet won't flush. And sometimes the water won't run and when it does, it runs for about 10 seconds before shutting off (also there's no hot water, only cold, unless you can get the water to run for an extended period). And there's no way to make them work manually. So on occasion, I have to go into the office kitchen to wash my hands, where there's not only a pump soap dispenser but a faucet handle (and hot water!). oy

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

HARD SAME MSBELLE.

It's snowing in a very pretty way up here, and I would like to spend the day in my PJs with a book and a mug of tea looking at the pretty snow, and it is very irritating that this is not what my job is paying me to do.
