'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Thanks, Gud. Getting my resume whipped into shape as a first step is really the first thing that I have to do, so hopefully taking the time out for the Job Center stuff may help.

In the meantime I'm looking at Tucson properties on Zillow and getting very picky about the way some of the kitchens look too trendy. (Or else like the one property did, have junker cars in the front yard.) I could in theory sell my house for a mind-bending (if you have my mind) amount and pay cash for a nice 3 bed/ 2 bath all mod cons Tucson house and have enough left for retirement.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds like a good approach, Theo. You certainly seem eminently employable to me! (The taking days off to do job-search stuff, although the moving to Tucson approach does not seem terrible, either!)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

When I got the Gyoza for lunch yesterday (yesterday? That seems so long ago, but I guess it was yesterday) I also got two enchiladas with red sauce and two with green so today and tomorrow I am having Xmas enchiladas. Really pleased about that.

You are making excellent food choices!

Yikes, BT -- that is Too Hot.

Good luck with all of that, Theo. I think about moving somewhere cheaper for retirement myself. Why Tuscon, though?

brillig

Santa Fe sounds nicer, much cooler.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Santa Fe is pricey, though.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Yikes, BT -- that is Too Hot.

I shall assume you are talking about the actual weather and not my boy's recreational advice.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Theo - do you have people in Tucson? And are you looking at 3/2s because you want that much space or because that is what tends to be on the market? Have you considered a townhouse or garden style condo where you would be responsible for less upkeep?

Both, though!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

OTOH, it is a damn shame that telling customers "Everyone has problems, just chill" occasionally is not okay.

I highly recommend an episode of The Truth called "Murder at Cakery Bakery". (I recommend ALL episodes of The Truth really, but this one is specifically relevant to dealing with customers/clients.)

Ugh. Forecast is for 38 degrees (100F) the next three days running. So much for autumn.

We're on a 2-hour snow delay! Wanna trade?

I have some friends in Tucson, and have visited before, so I know a little about the place, and just generally love the scenery and dry dry climate. It's way more liberal than most of AZ, which is also attractive. And has universities and so on, plus neighborhoods where you can walk to the grocery store et al.
