There have been several times with my mom when she's had chest pains, and she told my dad that she was having chest pains, and he asked if she wanted to go to the hospital, and she said no. Then, several hours later, it got to the point where she finally admitted that yes, the hospital might be a good plan. Then, after she got whatever she needed at the hospital (like a stent or a pacemaker or whatever it was that time), she'd complain to my sister and me that, when our dad first asked if she wanted to go to the hospital and she said no, that he should have insisted that she go anyway.

C'mon dads (and moms)! Take care of those hearts!
My assistant is transferring to a different department within our organization after this week. I should probably give him something to acknowledge/thank him but I've been neck deep in budgeting and have had no time to think of anything.
Argh, parents and health!
As a queer, the 90s and even early 2000s feel like a whole other ballgame. Like, societal attitudes have changed so much, so quickly, it's really crazy!
IT just implemented something that will make a 30 minute software install actually take a whole damned day...wasted on logging in.
Wow.
(Really glad we cancelled our plans for an install next week.)
Grumbling on your behalf, sarameg.
Also, parents! I'm simultaneously amused and concerned for my children dealing with my parental shenanigans.
People! I finally listened to podcasts. Yes, I know, but I have always been a reader and not so much a listener. Tried audio books a couple times and couldn't remain focused, and never even bothered to try podcasts. On my trip cross state to see the sibs I was not interested in any more news or music and the Podcast button was right there, so I pushed it! Selected Stuff You Should Know and listened to 4 or 5 Short Stuff podcasts. I knew I didn't want to dive into a long one. My car was on auto steering and cruise control zooming across the everglades and I was totally delighted with the SYSK dudes!
Still not ready for audio books, but I feel like I just graduated from flip phone or something. Woo! New stuff in my head without reading!
Of all the days I could have spent offline and then noticed my CEO trending in the news...yesterday was a WEIRD ONE.
I have a 25 minute (each way) commute, and podcasts are wonderful for that. I enjoy The Magnus Archives, Be the Serpent (fanfic and traditionally published book discussions, occasional NC-17ish discussions of robot boners), Plantrama (gardening), and The Hidden Almanac (written by and occasionally guest starting Ursula Vernon [T. Kingfisher]).
I started spiking a fever last night, after I saw my doctor. TCG's stepmom took ltc to school. So I am catching up on emails, Grey's Anatomy, and newspapers.
Health~ma, sj. I hope the day's rest helps.
Yes, Calli I am likely to listen a lot more when I am up north for the summer because everything is at least a 20 minute drive, usually more. At home my trips are either super close, or through traffic which demands full attention. I consider myself a competent multi-tasker, but not with driving in big city traffic. Summer driving is rolly mountain hills.
