In radically other news, I have a modern etiquette question: I'm going to stay with a friend and her family and thought to bring some cookies. But one of the kids is vegan, and the cookies surely are not. Is that rude?

So, last night I woke up in the middle of the night and checked my email as I often do when I need to fall back to sleep, and there was a threatening email from TCG's mother. Fun times.

Threatening in what way??? And what the actual fuck??????

I'm sorry, sj. Also, don't check your email in the middle of the night!! Whatever her issue is I hope you can shake it off. TCG and ltc are blessed to have you in their lives.

Her issues are that she's a sociopath who thinks we should all bow down and take her shit all the time. No, I'm not exaggerating, it's fucking amazing that TCG is such an amazing human.

Threatening that if I continue to have anything to do with her sister (on FB) there will be "trouble" and called me a "gigantic money grubbing phony bitch". I am not responding.

Laura, my mom said the same thing to me about not checking my emails. But usually I browse the internet for a bit and see if I can go back to sleep. It helps. I'll be avoiding emails in the future.

My first MIL actually told my mother quite sincerely on the night before we got married that I was clearly getting the better deal by getting her awesome son in the marriage. My mother was amazingly diplomatic and gently stirred the conversation in another direction. She was a piece of work.
