I can't really speak to the differences, having only really dated women. But I'll admit it's not a walk in the park.
Having dated women on numerous occasions, I would like to mention that I have had some dates which were indeed a walk in the park.

My sister is all DTMFA and she's right. As I was lying down to sleep last night, I remembered those words of wisdom "Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option." He's had so many chances and he continues to waffle. Last guy was obsessive, this guy is sporadic at best. And really needs to be focusing on himself.
