Jesus. Every day the news gets more depressing and it's only been a few days?!?
I do wonder at what point we jump. Like, in an apocalypse I always figured I would not be one of the people who is smart and sees it coming and buys up the guns and grocery store just before money stops meaning anything. I don't even know what to do.

I know- I am wondering if I am crazy to think of at least building up a store of cash on my person/in my home.
I do think this is a good time to revisit personal finances, increase savings, and pay down debt. The bubble is going to burst at some point and it is good to be prepared.
I'm also looking into what I can do to decrease my taxes. I've always just paid them and not really worried about paying as little as possible. Now I want to make sure I'm contributing Very Little to the wall and the Muslim registry and whatever else the idiot comes up with.
The only thing that will make any difference is if the Republicans in the House and Senate take a stand. Some of them might be influenced by their constituents, many not at all.
Not that planning for the breakdown of society isn't important, but.
I just watched the Deep Space 9 episode "The Visitor", and I think I've wrecked myself for the rest of the day.
I don't have a lot of money to donate, but I think I'm leaning towards the Southern Poverty Law Center.
I could easily see the Trump administration ending in impeachment or a coup. I think impeachment would be much more likely. If his base weakens, then the R's will turn on him in an instant. I'm sure they'd way prefer to have Pence as president.
Blatant crazy tends to taint everyone around it. If the GOP wants to keep their seats, they're going to have to make it look like they're not abetting the crazy. They can frame it as "We saved you from the Bad Man!"
I have been very loose with money for about 6 months. That has got to change. I am focusing on paying down my debt and about starting to pull out cash and build up a little supply in the house in case of emergencies.
I might also switch my meds to postal ordering so I can get 3 months at a time in case there is a push back on coverage. I am getting all possible medical appts done asap. Of course my body is in full revolt at the moment, so that is not helping.
I know that we're hearing stories about repentant Trump voters, but I'm wondering how much his support is eroding with his base--if it is at all. People who voted because they think a Muslim registry is a great idea, who think cities are all gang-infested slums, who think they're poor because those immigrants are coming over the border and taking their jobs and having babies on welfare--I would assume they're hearing about Trump's actions and cheering. State Department leadership resigning en masse? Fewer federal bureaucrats living high on their tax dollars. Scientists not allowed to talk about climate change? Why should we pay them to spout Chinese propaganda and drive up gas prices?
Basically, I think that die hard Trump voters live in a bubble that won't be permeated by reality until their parents' SS checks stop coming and the factories that Trump brings back to the US (if any) refuse to hire them because prison labor and robots are cheaper.
