Tep, I did see that argument (though maybe not on your feed?) and thought about jumping in, but honestly life is too short. I do somehow feel that the inability of people to accept that there are many different kinds of oven drawers in the world is a metaphor for what is wrong with America, though.

Yes, or you can warm up plates in it, like restaurants do (which is why they often caution you that your plate is hot. The food cools slower if the plate is warmed.)

I think you can also keep cooked food warm in it while other things cook in the oven. We don't have one, just a storage drawer, which we definitely need in our teeny kitchen.
