Yes, or you can warm up plates in it, like restaurants do (which is why they often caution you that your plate is hot. The food cools slower if the plate is warmed.)

I think you can also keep cooked food warm in it while other things cook in the oven. We don't have one, just a storage drawer, which we definitely need in our teeny kitchen.

Since it's just the 2 of us, if we ever need to keep plates warm, they go in the oven, and the warming drawer continues to fulfill its role as storage.
