Not as crazy as some others, but still makes a big mess. Website says "FLL averages 650 commercial flights per day on 30 airlines. There are also 100 private flights. Each day over 73,000 travelers pass through the four terminals at FLL."

Yikes. I'm reading 5 dead and 8 hospitalized.
Keeps getting worse. People are running out onto runway as police running into garage with guns drawn. Not good. I don't watch news anymore and am now glued to it.

In other news, here's a college course I could enjoy.
When I was in college, the head of the Math Department hosted a Wine Seminar periodically. Good times.
Good lord, I only know what you guys are posting about this shooting but it sounds terrible.
Yeah one of my traveling-myjobindustry groups on FB posted about the FLL thing, and I got an internal email about it too, in case any of our people were there. So scary. But it sounds like they got the guy pretty quickly. And it wasn't past security, it was in baggage claim? Not that I think the TSA is all that, but god forbid someone got a gun through security, then we'd all have to strip naked to get in!
Did the escaped prisoner here yesterday make national news at all? He busted out of prison in Rhode Island, came back here where he's from, robbed a bank, and got caught! Busy day.
That is a busy day! No, didn't hear anything about it. Though I wasn't super with it yesterday either.
Apparently the guy had arrived on a flight from Canada and had the weapon in his checked bag. Took his bag to the restroom, loaded and fired 3 magazines (or whatever they are called) into the crowd in baggage. Then just sat on the floor and surrendered. No shots fired by law enforcement.
Yikes.
I panicked a little given how close my dad and cousin and good friend T are to the airport, but they are all fine. Yet another senseless act of gun violence. I'm so done.
Wow, that is weird. And terrible, but...that's like something that would happen in a movie for convoluted reasons.
We are at FLL so often between traveling ourselves and dropping off and picking up loved ones. Nothing in existing security systems would have prevented this so far as I can tell. No real way to guard against bat shit crazy combined with firepower.
