These things happen, msbelle. And I'd like to point out that in a lot of places they don't actually turn off your water when you don't pay your bill since people need water to live and all. I may have taken advantage of that on occasion. Also, it's good to have those gallon jugs to keep filled with water stashed around the house in case of emergency, once you get them and use the water for this little emergency.

One, I think it is evil that municipalities shut off water like that. Two, they just changed our billing system and I'm now super paranoid I'll miss a bill (because they are making a mess of it) and have in the past when it was quarterly, but I think there's an injunction or something over shutting off water until waaaaay overdue here. Or they just weren't that organized.
I am really impatient with being ailing. Like completely unreasonable and irrational.

Yeah, you know, if our water has never been turned off here, it's because they give you many notifications. Because there were several years where bills were paid very erratically, between my father's dementia and my mother taking over.
