I've done a lot of security clearance interviews given I lived in DC and went to the college I did...Navy, CIA, FBI...

Oh boy, I've had lots of clients in the alphabets and their clearance interviews have become kind of annoying. I don't mind at all doing them because they are usually precursors to promotions. But.
My DExH and I used to conduct background checks as a side business and I remember us being way more thorough.
These days, I get the inevitable call that they need to do an interview in my office. Every single time, I ask if they are sure they need to come. Can't we do it over the phone. Nope. Gotta come in.
So. I schedule for it and it takes less than 5 minutes. I am not even kidding that one agent didn't even make it all the way up the second floor stairs before he was done and headed back out the door.
Protocol, man. Sheesh.
I had to do one with an FBI agent for a former student and my boss's boss freaked out because we are only supposed to give dates of employment.
You know what mysteriously works for a lot of my tension headaches, like yesterday's? Leaving work at the end of the day. (That it also coincides with getting to take my bra off might also be a factor.)
I've definitely gotten headaches that were caused by dehydration, but once an actual headache appears, the only cure is painkillers. Drinking water after the fact doesn't help me much.
I have a headache now, and I'm pretty sure it's being caused by a weather front moving in. On the upside, the weather front will probably kill 90+F temps for the rest of the summer, and I'm willing to live with a few hours of pain for that.
Water may help in that it's washing down the ibuprofen. But not on its own.
So I broke my toe Monday night. And now I'm waiting to get a wisdom tooth extraction.
But I do feel better about the background check after reading posts here.
Ouch! Sorry.
Out of curiosity, when you first were taught about the Civil War in school were you taught that it wasn't really about slavery? I recall from third grade that I was taught that and it really wasn't until in college when watching a documentary that I realized that it really was all about slavery.
Argh. In a local political group, someone posted a video of a woman talking about how "we need another genocide," and said it was an example of what POC have to deal with every day. I'd seen that video before -- it was a short clip taken from a longer video, and in the context of the longer video, it was clear she was talking about Jews, not POC. So I said that, and posted a link to the longer video, and I was told that by doing that, and by bringing up the Holocaust, I was distracting from the real issue, which is the discrimination that POC face every day. Which, yes, they do, but that's not what that video is about, and I'm getting more and more frustrated that people in this thread are taking a video in which a woman talks about wanting to murder Jews, and then telling Jews that we're derailing when we say that that's what she's talking about. People are still posting about how this video is such a horrid example of what POC face, and how they, as white people, had no idea that there were people like this. And that would be an important conversation to have, but not on this video.
I'm frustrated.
