Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yay, Teppy's mom!

Thanks everyone. I feel better today, and ltc seems to be calmer than she was last night too.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

You guys, my baby sister went to the Tony's last night, and her show (Great Comet) won for lighting and scenic design!!! (Personally, I think it also deserved to win for choreography and lead actress, but it's tough being an ingenue going up against Bette Midler.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Good job mom!

So yesterday I was in Riverdale at a memorial/garden party with Gord Downie. There's a sentence I didn't expect to put together.

(Also present: a trombone, harp, violinist (my sis), teenage alt-rock band, "take me out to the ballgame" flash mob, release of several hundred goldfish into a koi pond system, and a bagpiper and Scottish dancers who led a procession of children through the neighborhood, with a route that went through someone's house.)

Coding and Sleeping

Man, I see a tweet and think of a William Henry Harrison-based reply and see that five people have already done it. How obscure do you have to be to make a unique take on Twitter?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Wow Jessica! That's terrific!

I am back at work and looking at a whole 5 days of working this week and not liking it. Also forgot my morning meds. So Monday, very coffee.

Congrats to Jessica's baby sister! Taped Tony Awards but haven't watched yet. Missed the first hour completely. Was the opening number good?

It was ok? I felt like Kevin Spacey was trying too hard the whole night. The opening number was less awkward than his random impressions later in the show. (He came on once as Johnny Carson, once as Bill Clinton, and once as Frank Underwood, and it was all weird and uncomfortable.)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Unsurprisingly, the pie chart author continues to be the actual worst. We have standard data that needs to be included (boring shit like the dates that the study was conducted, the mean age of the patients, etc.). Her reply to every query like that is "That is unimportant and I will not provide it."

Normally the hapless freelance editor follows up and says, hey, this is standard information that the senior editors deemed important to include, so please provide it. But at this point, I'm throwing it in my coordinator's lap. He already knows that she is from hell, based on the pie chart saga, so he can make the judgment call of whether we can leave that stuff out or he can be the one to try to get the information from her.
