I think I am pleased that Hayward's villainy was just the result of his wanting a sentient weapon. I was sure he was going to be Hydra and it is, I think, better that he is just some guy who could have been a good guy but just dropped all ethics and morale when they got to be inconvenient

Also, I am into Monica Rambeau and whatever her powers are. I wasn't sure about the eye color change thing at first but I like that it's different colors (depending, I presume, on what she's doing?)

I agree about Hayward, -t. I think it's too easy to make all the bad guys Hydra, which really discounts the many, manifold ways people have found to be horrible. You don't have to worship Red Skull to be power hungry and corrupt. History has given us a whole smorgasbord of options. Yay.

I was generally happy with the finale, but I wish that Wanda had made more of a gesture towards restitution. I get that she could not have personally stayed in the town and helped to repair it, because that would re-traumatize the residents, but it kind of felt like she could have at least asked Monica to keep her updated/offered to chuck money at the town/even just refurbished the town sign on her way out.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.
I saw a summary that was "the hero worked through her trauma and healed/the villain got away, and they were the same character", and - yeah. One woman of color who'd been wronged by Wanda offered sympathy, and that was her right, but the person who lingers in my mind is another woman of color who stood there, weeping and frightened and alone, who said "Tell my husband never to come back here". And Wanda silenced her, and everyone else who spoke up about being harmed by her actions. Sure, she stopped, and I agree with juliana's point that her continued presence would have prevented the work going forward, but Wanda got to just pull up the Hoodie of Sadness and walk out after all of that?
Hayward was an asshole, and a villain, and I am delighted that Darcy hit him with a funnel cake truck. That Marvel keeps making the people saying "There has to be a mechanism for accountability and redress when non-powered people are harmed" the bad guys ("Thunderbolt" Ross, anyone?) comes across as "Welp, this is complicated, and the audience likes the booms, so . . . ."
