I enjoyed that. Several twists I did not see coming.
I cried, but I do that more easily now.
I had not heard of the Ship of Theseus before. I learned the idea as "This is my grandfather's axe. My father replaced the head, and I replaced the haft."
ETA: Ha! The reference to it in WandaVision has already been added to the Wikipedia article for it.
after-end credit scene
I did not understand the setup part of that, although it was very pretty. The reveal made sense, though.
From Age of Ultron until now is roughly 6 years, which might be the longest goddamn origin story for a superhero I've ever seen. Even Oliver Queen became the Green Arrow in less time.
That's Infinity Stones for you
Really fucking disturbing how Hayward
didn’t hesitate to shoot 2 10-year-olds and a Black woman.
Also, did y’all know there are TWO post-credits scenes? FYI.
[edit] Okay, I posted that after midnight last night, and only this morning do I realize that Daniel already posted it. I am indeed a skimmer (but not a skipper).
I think I am pleased that
Hayward's villainy was just the result of his wanting a sentient weapon. I was sure he was going to be Hydra and it is, I think, better that he is just some guy who could have been a good guy but just dropped all ethics and morale when they got to be inconvenient
Also, I am into Monica Rambeau and whatever her powers are. I wasn't sure about the eye color change thing at first but I like that it's different colors (depending, I presume, on what she's doing?)
I agree about Hayward, -t. I think it's too easy to
make all the bad guys Hydra, which really discounts the many, manifold ways people have found to be horrible. You don't have to worship Red Skull to be power hungry and corrupt.
History has given us a whole smorgasbord of options. Yay.
I was generally happy with the finale, but I wish that Wanda had made more of a gesture towards restitution. I get that she could not have personally stayed in the town and helped to repair it, because that would re-traumatize the residents, but it kind of felt like she could have at least asked Monica to keep her updated/offered to chuck money at the town/even just refurbished the town sign on her way out.
That did not sit too well with me, either. I hope it's addressed in some way next time we see her.
