Maurissa Tancharoen had a small role in tonight's SHIELD, and she was awesome!

Is this where we talk about Dark Phoenix? The press / social media embargo is lifted, so I'm allowed to say now publicly that it was very, very, very bad. I do not recommend that anyone spend money to see this. If you are a die-hard completist it will be on VOD any minute now.
Every time we saw a preview for Dark Phoenix, I muttered, "This doesn't make me care about the X-Men AT ALL."
Birth.Movies.Death pointed out that there have been like a dozen X-Men movies in the past 20 years, and except for Wolverine, there has been no character development. All the characters are exactly the same as they were in the first film, in 2000.
The IO9 review laments that it's not better, as they see glimmers of the movie they would have loved to see but they vanish very quickly. They were a little more positive in their overall assessment, though.
I for one wasn't too hyped up to see it anyway, despite how excited I was that they were actually going with Jean encountering the Phoenix Force during a mission in space aspect. Though I guess they still used the repressed mental trauma angle that Last Stand did as well, which is lame.
I have to agree with the Nerdist's argument that the 90s X-MEN cartoon, of all things, still holds the title of the best adaptation of the storyline: [link] if only because they followed the complete arc and actually let us care, rather than the "evil force makes Jean go crazy and kill her friends" story the movies insist on doing.
When I saw that it was by the same guy who wrote the screenplay the LAST time this story was filmed, I knew it would be a dumpster fire.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine was co-written by David Benioff (from GoT).
I'm not sure if you're trying to support or to refute Matt's argument.
In the wake of people's reactions to the last few episodes, it feels like support.
