I hate to break it to you, oh impotent one, but you're not the big bad anymore, you're not even the kind of naughty.

hip deep in pie

American politics is weird. I rarely know the religions of most of the PMs. Except the current one, who belongs to a freakass church. Okay, and if they're French, I assume they're RC.

My poor dad was in so much pain that they took him back to the hospital today. They X-rayed his hip and there's nothing broken, but they can't see any other reason why he's in the pain that he's in. They're admitting him overnight, and he'll see an orthapedic specialist in the AM.

ION, I just remembered I have a potluck in French class tomorrow. Good thing I always have ingredient for cookies on hand.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Openly gay, clearly.

Thanks for that link, Ginger. I'm beginning to feel like I've used up the internet--I'm searching for great examples of his high contrast work, and that piece is too muddy. :(.

Most frustrating, there was a picture I fell in love with for inspiration, and I can't find it any more. Had the best moon light source...

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

A lot of Dore's reproduced work looks kind of muddy. I think in many cases the original was larger.

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

Sue, your poor dad. I hope he can get some relief from the pain now that he's in the hospital. What a difficult situation.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I've "discovered" a new way to fall asleep when having made the mistake of sleeping all Sunday: books on tape. It's like reading, but I don't have to strain my eyes or physically hold a book up, and I have the bad habit of "I'll just finish this chapter --ooh, what happens nocjkpext?! I'll just finish this next chapter..."

But with books on tape, I'm laid out in my comfy sleeping position, and as soon as I find my sleepy self being disturbed by the noise, I hit pause and continue falling asleep. No adjustment of position, no putting a book away. Hooray!

Now I just need to stockpile books on my phone.

I never hit pause, so there's a lot of re listening for me.

Neither recruiter emailed or called by five. It's too late to run the book errands, but I sure am hitting the pharmacy and grocery store.

(Made more cookies. Shame)

One of my awesome neighbors has moved. Today, the moving van pulled away for the last time. She's fulfilling her dream of raising her daughter on her beloved Eastern Shore, with an added bonus of taking her rocking skateboarding fiancé along to his dream of returning to the shore too. So I'm happy for them, but her porch was the first I dinner partied on and I missed seeing them out there tonight. It's funny how sad it's made me.

There is a completely heartbroken little girl next door. G and L were born within months of each other and grew up together. Poor kids, I remember when mine moved away. I see many more trips to the Shore in their future.

Here's to hoping the new owner falls in love with our hood.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

My not awesome neighbors are moving. So of course on Saturday they were guests at a wedding at work. And were annoying and made me want to cry. I wish that tree had smooshed them. Yes, yes I do, I am that horrible. At least the husband.

And since I know their voices, as I sat in the front office they were all I could hear.

And I got to hear how Mr. Neighbor would do my job, which was par for the course and completely against my moral compass, but of course I'm a daft fool for thinking otherwise.

We're like opposites! Congrats on being rid of them!
