I'm so sorry, but if it makes you feel any better, my fun-time-Buffy party night involved watching a robot throw Spike through a window, so if you want to trade... no wait, I wouldn't give up that memory for anything.

Connie, maybe try a mild paprika instead of the cayenne next time? It will give you some of the pepper flavor without the burn. I never really thought of cumin as being a hot spice.

When I sniffed the cumin to get an idea of what it was, it tickled my nose like hot stuff does. I honestly think I react to things differently than most people.

And if Housemate doesn't get his butt up to get his share, he may not have much left. I'm after my seconds.

It does if you buy the good stuff. Until I was an adult and started buying spices in bulk from a local market, I only ever thought of it as the garnish for potato salad, for color.

This is a good brand I've used before.

Trader Joe's brand of smoked paprika on roasted cauliflower is THE BEST.

I think I'm going to have to throw out nearly all the spices in the kitchen. I know they have a shelf life, and I don't remember when they were bought.

edit: plus I can't reach the shelf most of them are on, stupid foot-taller-than-me husband creature.

Quite a lot, especially the smoked. Needs to not be too old, though, it does lose flavor with age. That's a general rule with ground spices though.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Like Tep says, the TJ's smoked Paprika is very flavorful.

It's funny to me that Buffistas are (a) the kind of people who generally don't ask for extensions; but are also (b) the kind of people may never return their library books.

Lawful good students; chaotic neutral readers?
