How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious.

Goodbye and Good Riddance 2013: That Was the Year That Was

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Thanksgivukkahmas, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Out you go, 2013!

Our wings are not tired.

Ready for 2013 to depart. The house we are renting was sold and we met with the new owner today. He really wants to rent it on a weekly seasonal basis. So he wants us out right quick. He is willing to pay for moving and stuff. Will pay for the billiards company to move the pool table, etc. This is just the last thing in the world we have the time or energy to manage right now.

Deciding if we should move back to the house we are preparing to sell, or rent someplace else. Too much. Not sure what the best plan is. Hate this. My brain is full.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh Laura. Really, he wants you to move over the holidays, while you are still recuperating no less? Much coping~ma coing your way.

Our wings are not tired.

He is willing to throw resources at it, but it is a brain power issue. Much of the house content is not ours, but only we know what is ours and what isn't. And the whole decision making thing that I can't delegate. I have a number of basketball sons that are ready willing and able to pack and move and so forth so that isn't an issue. Just focus. Too much.

If there is anything I can do Laura. I am happy to look for a place from here and even make calls. It would do me some good to help someone.

If the house you are looking to sell is livable, that might be the path of least resistance and thought right now.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Do you have a lease? It's very dependent on local laws, but in most places he should have to honor it. And at any rate he has to give reasonable notice (though presumably his idea is payment in lieu.)

Because books.

Yeah, I would imagine 30 days' notice at least, if not 60.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this now, Laura, when you have so much on your plate already. Delegate where you can.

Secret Santa gifts have been purchased! They will be relayed to their recipient Real Soon Now.

Now all I have to do is buy presents for everyone in my family.

This.

Although this year has been a little different as family goes. I brokered a deal with my sister and dad that instead of doing gifts for each other, I will buy tickets for the Packer game at Lambeau next week, my sister will provide the tailgate, and my dad will make wassail, get handwarmers, and be designated driver. Done!

But then yesterday I also strong-armed my brother and his wife into buying a really nice coat for my sister, so now I need to get a little more focused on buying him and SIL something nice.

Our wings are not tired

Unfortunately I just did a quick check on FL Rental laws and if the rental property is on a month to month lease then the Landlord only needs to give notice 15 days before the end of the current monthly rental period. Assuming that the lease is month to month on calendar months, then if he has already given notice Laura will need to be out by January 1st.

Looks like FL doesn't do much to protect the renter. In CA it's 60 days if the tenant has lived there for 1 year or longer and 30 days if less than one year.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help Laura. Pix and I will be in your area at the end of the month and even if it's just taking you guys out to dinner or giving you an escape for a few hours we'd love to help.

Our wings are not tired.

Florida is not a renter friendly state. The new owner guy seems nice enough and seems willing to pay a price to get us out. It is mostly having to make decisions and do stuff when time and mental energy is at such a premium.

I do indeed look forward to seeing you and Pix when you get here. A most welcome distraction!
