I suspect I'll be over a lot of my food issues before this is all over, but it's still early, so I'm not there yet, and the picture of that soup definitely looks like something I wouldn't be able to eat.
This is actually probably the biggest problem for me--pureed stuff wigs me out. I'm working on it, but a lot of stuff is still triggering my gag reflex.
I'm still outraged that the dentist didn't warn you.
Aww, thanks! Maybe that's why I'm so chill about it, 'cause everyone else is feeling the anger for me, so I don't have to. I'm all just, it is what it is.
I would be tempted to make bean dip and eat it with chips but just lick the dip off the chips. Gross but salty and delicious!
You could also buy a big tub of protein powder and mix that in with stuff. It's not intended to be meal replacements but should work to supplement.
So far the only protein powder I've tried is chalky. That's only one brand, though; I still have to try others.
I have tried many, many protein powders and the only one I can bear...largely because it dissolves completely with no grittiness...is Designer Whey.
For years, I've gotten it at Trader Joe's pretty inexpensively.
My favorite flavor is the french vanilla, which blends with everything.
I shall look for it at TJ's, thanks!
And if you go to whole foods a lot of the protein powders have sample sizes. Most of them are flavored, but some aren't, or are flavored that would go well in smoothies. Also good in smoothies--peanut or almond butter?
Justin's chocolate hazelnut butter too! I think Franny lived on that her whole 3rd grade year.
Smoothie, Day 2: still cannot leap tall buildings in a single bound (or any number of bounds). Still feel ridiculously virtuous.
Today's smoothie was spinach, milk, frozen berries, protein powder, ground flax seed. SO MUCH FIBER.
That's some serious antioxidants, phytochemicals, and omega-3s you've got going on there, Steph. Go on with your nutrition-having self.
