Goodbye and Good Riddance 2013: That Was the Year That Was

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Thanksgivukkahmas, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Out you go, 2013!

And if you go to whole foods a lot of the protein powders have sample sizes. Most of them are flavored, but some aren't, or are flavored that would go well in smoothies. Also good in smoothies--peanut or almond butter?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Justin's chocolate hazelnut butter too! I think Franny lived on that her whole 3rd grade year.

Smoothie, Day 2: still cannot leap tall buildings in a single bound (or any number of bounds). Still feel ridiculously virtuous.

Today's smoothie was spinach, milk, frozen berries, protein powder, ground flax seed. SO MUCH FIBER.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

That's some serious antioxidants, phytochemicals, and omega-3s you've got going on there, Steph. Go on with your nutrition-having self.

Well, for as much as I say I'm going to add more veggies to our meals, my follow-through on that is kind of crap. So this seems like a good way to at least get in a serving of veggies.

Steph, or anyone else, do you just eat the smoothie? I've tried a few times but my tummy tends to want actual solid food or it doesn't believe there's been breakfast.

So far (the past 2 days) have been days where I wasn't even hungry for breakfast until 10:30. It's pretty filling to me; it's almost 3 hours later and I'm not ready for lunch.

But it might be different on a day when I wake up starving. I expect I'd probably have something else with the smoothie in that case, like oatmeal or a couple of eggs.

My breakfast is just the smoothie, but Pete has toast with his.

Jilli, have you tried coconut oil in yours? If so, does it change the texture appreciably? (If not, ignore this.)

I haven't. I use a spoonful of the Cocao Bliss stuff, which has some coconut oil in it, but not enough to make a difference, IMO.
